What Are The Relapse Prevention Policies In An Intervention Program In Michigan?

Many believe that the only work of intervention program in Michigan is to convince the addict to get into a treatment program but it is not like this. All such programs in Michigan are conducted under the supervision of an interventionist. This is a professional and trained person who provides all the help asked by the family and friends of the addict.

To make the addict accept that they are into addiction and that they need treatment to come out of their addiction is the major work of the intervention program in Michigan. The intervention specialist will join the group already formed by the family and friends of the addict, who want to help the addict. The interventionist will then guide this group and its members on what they should say to the addict, which will make the addict think seriously about their lives and addiction problems.

Some of the members who are really close to the addict will be also asked to prepare a speech for the addict. This speech will be first checked and corrected by the specialist and then that person will have to say it before the addict. This speech is mostly about how much they love the addict and how much they want the addict to lead their life happily and how much they want them to stop their addiction. All the speeches given will try to make the addict emotional and naturally the addict will feel like joining a treatment program.

Once this thing gets done and the addict agrees to take a treatment, the expert will also guide you about which treatment center is good and will also see to it that you get there without much trouble. The interventionist will also help you in getting admission to the treatment center in Michigan selected by you. If the addict goes for an inpatient treatment program, even then they would ask the treatment center for the progress report of the patient and informs the family of the addict.

Once the treatment gets over and the patient comes out of the treatment center, the interventionist will help the patient and their family to complete all the formalities of the discharge of the patient. The patient will also be given proper care at home. After the treatment gets over there is a great chance that the patient can have relapse into the addiction. This is a common thing for those who don't take a professional intervention program. For all such patients there is a high risk of having relapse and hence it is advised by all the treatment centers to go for a professional treatment program only.

The relapse can also happen if the patient is not given proper care and proper medications. Here also the intervention program comes to help, by providing proper support to the patient and helps them to overcome this phase of their lives successfully. The things done by the intervention program in Michigan to prevent a relapse are given below:

1. The interventionist will give proper counseling to the family of the patient before the patient comes back home from the treatment center. The family will be advised on various aspects like how they should behave with the patient, how they should react to what patient says, and also how they should not make the patient emotional.

2. On the day when the patient is about to come back home from the center after the treatment is over, they will send some volunteer to accompany the patient and see that everything is going smoothly. This is to ensure that the patient feels comfortable and at ease when they come back home.

3. The program will also see to it that someone from their program stays for few days with the patient in their home, so as to monitor the things clearly. This person will stay with the patient and take care of the patient's medicines and other things.

4. The family will be trained on how to make the patient feel at ease and what to do when any signs of relapse appear. The family will also be given tips, which will help them to handle the situation without panicking.

5. The patient will also be told to continue with the Yoga, breathing exercises, and relaxation exercises that they have learnt in the treatment center. The interventionist will also explain the importance of doing so to them.
