Okay, so we all know it!
Athlete’s foot is highly contagious! So, it should be a no-brainer that athlete's foot prevention is the best idea of all. It is frequently spread in damp areas such as public pools and showers. And of course these are the areas that we most often in jewelry during the summer months.
The prevention of athlete's foot is very important especially since once you contract athlete’s foot it is a persistent fungus that is difficult and challenging, at best, to get rid off.
In order to prevent getting athlete's foot it is important to remember to thoroughly dry your feet, particularly the spaces in between your toes. Use a clean dry towel. Also remember to avoid sharing towels because doing so can spread the highly contagious athlete’s foot fungus.
If you are a gym rat who showers at the gym or if you are someone who enjoys the public pools during the summer, remember to wear waterproof shoes or flip-flops as a way to protect your feet. Athlete's foot prevention is fairly easy and mostly common sense.
Remember that the fungus associated with this condition loves warm and moist places, so think about where those are located. Once you're clear about that, then simply avoid exposing your bare feet to these areas.
It is important to remember to keep your feet as dry as possible. This is particularly challenging during the summer months. Don't wear the same socks or shoes all the time. Give them time to dry out in between the time that you wore them before. Also remember to avoid socks that hold in moisture or ones that are known to make your feet sweat. Wool or cotton socks are the best bet.
Plus many sports stores today carry special socks that are made from moisture wicking fabrics designed particularly to keep your feet dry. When possible select tennis shoes that are well ventilated to help keep your feet dry.
The prevention of athlete's foot comes from starting with the basics of practicing good foot hygiene. Avoiding bare feet in areas in which you might come in contact with the fungus known to initiate athlete's foot.
Wash your feet daily with good soap and water, dry your feet carefully, especially the areas in between your toes, change your shoes, socks and pantyhose regularly to decrease the accumulation of moisture. All of these little suggestions for the prevention of athlete's foot can help to prevent the athlete’s foot fungus from invading your feet. You might also consider the use of a good high quality foot powder to help keep your feet dry.
Remember avoid walking barefoot, use shower shoes around the pool deck and community showers, wear light and well ventilated shoes, keep your feet dry by using a high quality foot power, and dry your feet thoroughly after a shower especially the areas between your toes.
Athlete’s foot prevention is basically good common sense. So be smart about it, prevent athlete's foot and by avoiding situations that put you at risk.
