Finding An Affordable Dentist : Is Your Dentist Ripping You Off?

My dentist always wears a mask when he's digging in my mouth and now i know why.... he's nothing more Highway Robber!.... Im only surprised he didn't ask me to stick my hands in the air too!

The last straw was on my last (ever) dental visit when i was told i needed all my remaining 28 teeth crowned because they had ground down over the years,and were threatening to make my resting bite look good enough for an entrance into a "gurning" competion...yep..my chin was heading north and my top lip south....not a pretty picture at all... ok i said.... how much?......mmm... sharp in take of breath....and wthout a hint of a blush or embarrassment he pops out with the price ...as cool as you like... oooh he said ...i think we can get that beautiful smile of yours back for no more than £18,000.... that's ($36,000 to our colonial cousins on the other side of the pond)

Great i said will you take cash ? as i reached into my back pocket....

Sensing i may be taking the proverbial mickey out of him he backpedalled a little to kindly mention that he would generously accept payments spread over an agreed time..

Wonderful i said..... How about £1 a week for as long as i have teeth in my head i said.... definately not amused at that little effort at humour he brusquely whips my bib away, gives me one of those well practised looks right down his nose and then mutters something about me giving it a good thinking about and getting back to him when i'd decided.

Without further ado i was ushered out like a bad smell before i even had the chance to make my usual departing raid on the kids "sugar free" lolly jar.....

So that was it...was i destined to be a World Champ Gurner? i asked myself...no i flaming well wasn't...there must be something i could do i thought.....and so began my quest for "Dental Nirvana" did i find it?...you bet your sweet bippy i did!

On the basis of it's not what you know but who you know, i decided to contact online friends i'd made over the years who are peppered all around the globe and flat out ask them if they knew of any dentists that did Pro Bono...well maybe not ProBono ..but you get the idea.... cheap dentists!

As luck would have it a friend of mine steered me towards Mexico of all places, and put me in touch with Jerry who actually lives there, and who has since become a firm friend .

He in turn introduced me to a lovely lady Mexican dentist who turned out to be an absolute lifesaver,both cosmetically and financially.

No, i didn't just turn up blind without doing some research, i did my due diligence to find a world class cheap dentist, and found out to my amazement that many of the Mexican dentists are US trained and the standard of Mexican dentistry is generally every bit as high as the US and Europe. I say "generally" as there are good and bad practitioners of all trades every where you go.

Anyway.... im sure you have heard the old phrase "i liked it so much i bought the company" ? (Victor Khyam and Remington shavers i think if i remember rightly).

Well i didn't quite buy the company but, so enthused was i about the quality of my smile now and the pittance it cost me, i decided to team up with Jerry to set up http://Dentist-For-Less.com to help others who are in need of a significant amount of dental work,and who would really like to have a complete new smile without paying the absorbitant costs charged by Cosmetic/General dentists both here and in the US.

What would i call the right price? well how about £1200/$2400???
Fully 92% less than quotes of £18,000/$36,000 received here in the UK.!!

To sum up, The savings, world class cosmetic/general dentistry and sunny weather equals satisfaction, and that is what people coming for cheap dental work in Mexico are getting.

A family can come to Mexico, have all their dental work done and enjoy a fun-filled week or two the sun. The trip itself sounds marvellous, but the bill for the cheap dentistry will be icing on the cake. For people who require dental work and can never seem to find enough money to pay for it, a trip to Mexico could be just what they need. Its definitely worth seriously thinking about.
