The 5 Greatest Ways To Reduce Your Stress Levels Today
1. Using breathing exercises: The best thing about this one is that you can do it anywhere and it doesn’t cost a penny and you don’t need any special type of equipment.
For example you could be stuck in the worst traffic gridlock and not moving anywhere and you could use this time for some productive use with a few minutes of relaxation. And if the worst happens and you fall asleep don’t worry the guy behind you is bound to wake you up with the blast of his horn.
2. Laugh: We all know how much better we feel after a good laugh. The process of laughing can change our hormone levels and put help put some good chemicals into our bodies.
And if you find it hard to laugh try to break out a smile even if it’s forced. If you don’t believe me you can try this out the next time you’re angry you’ll notice that it’s very hard to be angry with a smile on your face.
(By the way if you can do the two together you may just be a lunatic!!.. did I make you smile? Good job done!)
3. Visualize or day dream: Just because it seems that your world outside is beyond your control doesn’t mean you can’t control what’s going on inside. Try to bring up on of the best memories you can and place you self back in them. Whether it was that time you spent walking on the beach in the soft sand or whatever works memory for you.
If you’re too stressed out to visualize or keep a nice though in your head distract yourself with looking at a magazine or brochure with bright colorful images, maybe of an upcoming place you’re going to visit or something you’re going to buy soon.
4. Take a walk: If you can take a few minutes to yourself and take a walk if possible take a walk in a natural setting. You’ll find the sounds of nature can be very settling to your nerves and the exercise helps to increase the levels of good hormones in your body.
If you cant get back to nature try the next best thing and purchase a copy of a C.D with different types of natural sounds on it. You won’t need to listen to it consciously even playing it in the background as you work will still bring you benefits.
5. Gratitude: Sometimes when life has given us a bad hand to play with, it can be hard to be grateful for our lot. But as the old saying goes “No matter how bad you think you are, there is always some else who is worse off than you!â€
And it’s true if you watch any of that reality T.V with people being in hospital or watch some of the stories on the news it can put our small problems to shame.
Try and put you problems in perspective and thank god for them remember even the richest and most famous people that we look up to even have there bad days so don’t assume it’s just you that’s having a bad day.
Just before I end this article you should buy a small notebook and every night before you go to bed that a few moments to write down all the things you’re grateful for.
For example good health, friends right down to the small things like that guy or gal who stopped to let before them in the queue etc. You’ll find that at the end of the day you really did have a lot of things happen in your favor, concentrate on that and less on the small percentage that gone wrong for you and you’ll see today wasn’t so bad after all!!
