Wellness And Its Benefits

Body wellness occurs when all of the body pressures, physical and mental, are functioning at peak levels. Many people ask "what does it take to achieve a complete body wellness?" Well, the fact of the matter is that it requires more than just a trip to the gym, or a walk in the park.

It is of great importance that we determine just what goals we wish to achieve through well being. Our lives become more enriched and easier to live when we have body wellness. The benefits of well thought out plans of diet and exercise can be reaped for many years to come during our lives, simple because we have taken the time to remain fit and well.

Your immune system is a tell tale sign as to whether you have a state of wellness or not. A healthy immune system can assist you in prolonging the onset of many diseases that are related to age. Certain conditions such as Alzheimer's, heart attacks, macular degeneration, strokes, and overall feelings of good health depend upon a healthy immune system.

Keeping ourselves well and continuing in a normal routine many years after the accepted age of retirement is a great benefit and of great importance. Work becomes a genuine source of enjoyment for many older people. Work no longer appears to steal our time, rather it becomes an old friend. This reason alone, can become a reason to continue getting up in the morning and going about our day. Either way, our ability to continue participating is a direct benefit of our state of wellness and continued good health.

We must continue to learn, teach, and experience things in life in order to keep ourselves mentally safe and fit for the opportunities and activities that we fall upon during the course of our lives. Mental sharpness is a result of continued use of the mind in order to learn, communicate, and think. The benefit of keeping these resources is felt for a longer period of time than the benefit of physical wellness.

What are the physical benefits of continued wellness? Well, it is a priceless possession when you have the peace of mind that your body is in top shape and you are ready and prepared to deal with anything that steps in your way. It is a great accomplishment being aware of the fact that you have spent your day wisely, and invested your mind into something worthwhile. By adding only 20 minutes of exercise to your daily routine will benefit you in such an unbelievable way. I can assure you, being a participant in walking myself, that you will have an amazing increase in energy.

In one year, I lost a total of 74 lbs simply by adding walking to my daily routine. For two months I had been dieting, but with very little in the way of results. My physician suggested that I started walking, and I have to tell you that I have never been so impressed. I had three times as much energy than I had prior to beginning the exercise. Increased energy levels are one of the greatest benefits to having a well and fit body.

It is a lifetime responsibility in continuing our wellness and evaluating our levels of wellness. It really is not a difficult thing to achieve if we use our resources wisely and educate ourselves as to the things that our bodies require in order to maintain wellness. The benefits from continued wellness are reaped well into our later years. It is important to refer to wellness as an investment. Rather than thinking of it in dollars and cents, we should think of it as time and education. You will find that the return on your investment was well worth the time and effort, and it is far better than any prescription that you will ever find.
