Disney Exclusive Online Remembers Mickey's 80th Birthday & How Important Dreams Are

You may have missed it, but one of the great inspirational figures of the last century celebrated his 80th birthday. His features are recognizable in almost every city on earth, and he has probably raised a smile from almost everyone whose life he has touched.

Walt Disney's beloved animated friend Mickey Mouse turned 80 years old. I think back over the years and seeing all the items we have sold in our store, and Im proud of the fact our items become dreams.

Today, as a society is glued to the television waiting to hear how bad it is and how much worse it will be, at least I know we still have a place where Dreams come True. Walt Disney, who had financial issues many times throughout his career, never let his feet hit the ground. He knew the dream and magic in his head was real, people had to believe. Perhaps, it did take a sketch of a black and white mouse in order for Walt to convince people it's ok to dream.

To me this is what Mickey Mouse's 80th Birthday will remind me of. 80 years of Dreams, Disneyland, Walt Disney World, all the Disney Theme parks serve as a reminder, Dreams do come true.

I was asked the other day, what is my favorite Mickey 80th Anniversary item? It is hard to say because Disney Theme Parks came out with some amazing collectibles. Although they were only available in the parks and now those limited edition pieces are gone, Im thankful we stocked up. Because until they all sell, I have to admit, as a dreamer, I like having those figurines and Disney art pieces in the office.

Today, I feel Disney has one of the greatest opportunities to do something great. All I can see is a absolutely amazing marketing plan. What other company can in a time of despair turn the tide and sell dreams. Honestly, can you imagine if Walt Disney was alive today, would he be cutting back? Would Walt be bracing for a economic impact. Would Walt allow advertising to feed the economic woe frenzy, as many of Disney's current ads are doing?

All I can visualize in my head is the awesome opportunity the Walt Disney Company has to create a world of dreams. People of all walks of life want to be entertained, they want to have fun, be with their family and dream. Walt created this world and Disney can make a difference. Even during the Great Depression, Charlie Chaplain would watch as people would spend their last few penny's to see a movie. He also knew people needed this release, they needed to believe, they need to Dream!

80 years, one man, one mouse, created a world of dreams and happiness. Today, A Massive global giant, to think if they would dream themselves? Imagine, what one man and one Mouse did over 80 years ago. Imagine, what 100,000 of dreamers inside the Walt Disney Company and all their affiliates could do? Imagine, What a dream.

Looking at all the memories and old sketch's, most of them in black & White, it is a reminder it all started with a mouse, in black and white. Because of Walt Disney he created new dreams, and dreams of brilliant colors, feelings, and to think, it all started with a mouse.
