Cleaning Is A Snap With Custom Closets

Nobody likes to clean, well, almost nobody. If you're included in that group there are few ways that you can make cleaning a more tolerable task than it's been in the past. Custom closets can help by having all of your cleaning supplies and tools in a central and organized location. You won't be running up and down stairs and going room to room looking for products. Your closet will have everything you need to clean your house faster and more efficiently, ultimately reducing the amount of time spent cleaning.

To Store Or Not To Store

Custom closets are a great utility, but before you even start to think about your own closet, make a list of all the items you will use when you clean your house. This would include major equipment such as a vacuum cleaner, floor polisher, carpet shampooer, and sweepers. Smaller items like brushes, gloves, work clothes, and rags should be looked at as well. Last but not least are all the cleaning products you use. Like most things, cleaning products have a shelf life. This is a good opportunity to see how often you really do use a certain product and if it's still fresh enough to be effective.

Now that you have an inventory of your cleaning equipment and supplies, you will have a better idea of how much closet storage space you will need. If your space allows, you may find it better to create more than one closet, perhaps one in the bathroom, laundry room, and garage to make it more convenient.

Divide And Conquer

Custom closets are flexible in design, which means you make them work for you. You don't have to accept the limitations of a typical storage space. For example, when you have your own closet designed, you may want to allocate space for a container or a bin to hold all of the cleaning products you will use in a particular room or area. If you have a two-story home, you may want two containers, one for products used upstairs and one for products used downstairs. If room allows, you may want to create containers for major work areas such as bathrooms, the kitchen, or living areas. When a room needs to be cleaned, it's as easy as grabbing the appropriate bin.

Shelving can be smart as well. Under-the-shelf storage drawers or baskets are great to keep cleaning rags or recyclable plastic bags under control. Rolls of garbage bags or towels used for cleaning can sit on shelves that are divided into "cubbies." Everything will have a place, and when in its place, will remain orderly and easy to find.

Custom Closets You Design

When designing your closet, think of all the things you will want to store. Start with the largest items first, such as a vacuum cleaner. Brooms and mops are other larger items to take into consideration. It's nice to have your brooms and mops hanging rather that sitting on the floor. This will help to protect the original shape of the broom and prolong the usefulness of it. There are various clips and hangers that will accomplish this. Once these items have been accounted for, the balance of the space can be designed to store other products.

Regardless of whether you have a small closet in Los Angeles or a large set of custom closets in Chicago, you can design a closet that is specific to your needs. You will be more organized and clutter free, allowing you to see at a glance if a product is running low and needs to be restocked.
