Fire Damage And The Truth
Fire damage is far from being fun, unless you are a fire fighter doing a planned controlled burn, but even then you should not think of it as fun, you should think of it as serious. Being a firefighter we get to go around to many different schools, job sights and nursing homes to tell what to do and what not too do. Within this article, we are going to tell you the truth behind fire damage and how you might be able to stop fire damage from even happening.
Every year we see many different residential fires and all we can think about is rescuing anyone who is inside and putting that fire out. Never mind the fire damage on properties. When we have investigated these fires and learnt the reasons why a fire has emerged, we have found, in many different cases that the fire and subsequent fire damage could have been prevented if there were safety precautions taken. When looking through the fire reports, we see that a lot of these fires were cause by incident of cooking, smoking, children putting their hands on something that shouldn't be in their risk, then of course, the deliberate setting of fires.
Not too long ago, a huge forest fire broke out within our area. Tons of houses and one school were in the path of this fire. All we, as firefighters, could think about was putting out that fire. A couple of days passed and we were still putting out this forest fire. I have chased many different things through the woods during my childhood but I have never imagined I would be chasing a forest fire through the woods. We were trying to get this forest fire put out, a lot of the firefighters were exhausted but we gave it all we have got. We thought of this as a big test on our firefighting skills and boy was we right. This forest fire was not out for weeks. Eventually, when we got it put out we could return to normal and respond to those calls.
A day after we got this fire put out, a signal 25 in woods, which is a fire in the woods, came about on the radio waves. We were instantly paged and there we were at it again. Eventually, we got these fires put out and had some investigations conducted. We found out that individuals were running around setting these fires. To make a long story short, we found those individuals who had been setting those fires. It was 4 boys and three girls, I guess they thought it was funny but the fire damage that was put onto Mother Nature was not called for. Many animals died in those forests and many trees were ruined.
Remember, when you are cooking in your home or outside, you should never leave the stove or grill unattended. You should even turn the burner off when you are answering the telephone. Never cook while you are under the influence of alcohol or any other type of medication that is known for causing drowsiness. When you are cooking, be sure to wear clothes that are not baggy and never play with anything flammable. If you have children in your house, you should be sure to keep matches and lighters out of their reach. Teach the children to never touch those matches or lighters. Also teach your children not to play with the stove or any other type of electrical devises and last, never leave burning candles unattended or in reach of small children. All these things will keep you safe and prevent fire damage.
