Bamboo Blinds Are Traditionally Eastern Forms Of Decor
Although blinds these days are made from many different materials; fabric, wood and steel, one of the favorite materials is bamboo. Blinds made from this material can look very elegant and sophisticated whilst still allowing the atmosphere of a room to be relaxed. Bamboo materials may also be used to make furniture, line walls, and in the east it is still used to build homes.
Bamboo furnishing and decor is very warm in its appearance, much like wood. Because it is a natural material and is most used in its natural state, the homey feeling of a room is enhanced. Although often used to make a room feel cozy, bamboo may also be used in very formal settings and it is a very versatile medium.
Adding blinds made of bamboo to your decor scheme is never a bad idea. It is such a flexible material that it can be used to make virtually anything. I have seen blinds, mats, wall coverings, baskets, hats, lamp shades, chairs, tables, chests, beds and wall units, amongst others made from this flexible material.
Blinds, made to fit either inside a window, or cover the window opening are prefect in any room in the home. The natural look of this material can be left as it is or lightly washed with color. It can also be stained to add contrast or match other furnishings. Bamboo does not really dominate a room; it blends and creates natural lines, as well as makes a marvelous backdrop for other items of tasteful decor.
Artistic expression and good taste are essential in creating living space. Remember you have to live with it every day, and if you have finish a room, but it still does not look finished, a bamboo blind may be the missing ingredient. They are eye catching and timeless, even though in the west they are a modern innovation.
It is very simple to keep a blind made from bamboo clean, all it takes is a wipe with a damp cloth every now and then to remove dust. It is strong flexible and long lasting, blinds made from this material will look good for a long time.
It can be a very expensive exercise to decorate every window in a new home, but not when you used bamboo blinds. They look good and are inexpensive too! They are generally manufactured in the horizontal variety, and this is good, because vertical blinds are not great, and for some reason they are no where near as popular.
Blinds historically have been used in the east and are descended from the traditional Japanese sudare or misu. These were also manufactured strips of bamboo, bound together with woven strings. Because of the design, they can be rolled or folded to allow the light to enter a room or to be stored.
Misu and sudare are often decorated with elaborate silk or painted designs, and are extremely beautiful. They have many uses in the east, to shelter verandahs, decorate windows and even separate rooms. They are seasonal form of decor which are stored during the autumn and winter and only hung in the spring, read for the hot months.
Bamboo blinds are made in China; this is why they are not exorbitantly expensive. The Chinese have easy access to cheap raw materials as well as the skill to manufacture them easily.
