How To Choose Quality Tub Faucets

I am planning to remodel my dream bathroom and a tub faucet is in my wish list. I am confused as to which would be the best one to choose with the best quality. I am a newbie in the field and want a complete manual for installation of a shower faucet. Can you give me some quick tips for the good maintenance and long life of the fixture accompanied with high class performance?

You are spending your money in one of the best rooms of your home. Investing money in high-quality products for a bathroom is a sure way to get a high rate of return. This is positively true if you select timeless designs and fixture that will look as good 25 years from now as the day they are installed. I am sure, after reading this you will have a great tub faucet working absolutely fine.
Tub faucets have undergone a tremendous change in the past several years. There were the traditional came with washers which made it difficult to maintain. Today you have these modern tub faucets with all new designs and models independent on the washers. The new faucets have cartridges that control the flow of both hot and cold water. Many of the faucets are singe handle where the inner cartridge allows for the flow of just hot or cold water or an infinite amount of either.

There is a misconception regarding the Roman and the ordinary faucets. Roman faucets are characterized by special feature that differentiates it from its counterparts. The faucet is placed on a large deck across the tub. On the contrary, modern faucet has the spout of the faucet hanging out of the wall above the tub drain.

Quality is the most important feature that identifies a good and the best product in the market. Suppose you ignore this feature and get a low rated faucet, the cons are severe and you need to spend more on it in the form of repair. This will indeed prove to be costlier. So it is better to get one with good quality, if you wish a long life for the faucet with trouble-free performance.

Just about tub faucet or shower faucet comes with trouble-shooting and maintenance instructions. Take a few minutes and read those. It can save you lots of time in the future. I like to save all paperwork for these items and store them near the unit. Use a zip-lock plastic bag for storage purposes and tape it and keep it safe near the bathroom vanity cabinet. Often house owners ignore this important thing before installation and suffer a lot in the future. These manuals also contain important model and part numbers.

The centerline of the tub drain and the shower should be maintained. In most cases, the drain hole is not properly placed in line with the shower. So check it out before you proceed.

Next task would be to give the connection to the pipelines of the drain lines. Most prefer copper pipes. The soldering of the copper pipe involves lot of attention and care. It is highly recommended not to keep anything inside the tub while soldering. Due to the high temperature, the parts get damaged very badly. Especially, the cartridge, if by mistake is left on the faucet, completely loses its functionality and use. To maintain the temperature of the tub while soldering, keeping a wet rag piled on the opposite side of the tub. The effect of this arrangement also helps in getting the soldering done with ease and with perfection. The process of soldering is to be done with lot of effort. But the true effort is always fruitful. Te copper tube once connected forms the main the connection to the drain lines to dispose the water from the tub. There would be lot of stains of flux. You can get rid of it by simply wiping with a piece of old wet cloth.

The placement of the faucet improperly may lead to leaks due to improper sealing. This may happen if the distance between the wall stud face and the faucet is too less or too more. The thickness of the finished wall is also very crucial for the matter.

Though there is a lot of advancement in the plumbing industry, some things are best when not changed. For best performance install an access panel on the opposite side of the wall behind the tub or shower faucet. These are common in many houses even today; reason obviously for their efficiency. The access panel should extend one foot above the top of the faucet and all the way to the floor. However it becomes useless when you go for the replacement of the faucet.

Once you are done with the installation, there may be certain parts of the cartridge and debris, which clog the segments of the cartridge. The first time you open the faucet, you will find only the dirty water flowing out of the pipe. This may be harmful for the cartridge and will require replacement. First remove the cartridge very carefully. Then just flush out the dirty water before using the faucet. Turn off the main water supply valve first and collect the waste water. Go in for a faucet that has built-in shut off controls. This aids in doing the work without the need to call a plumber. A helper will be handy in case you do not have a shut off control.
