How To Easily Select And Install Bathroom Cabinets
One of the best ways of approving the looks of your entire washroom is by installing bathroom cabinets. You will give yourself a lot more shelf and storage space and improve the value of your home in the process.
There are a wide variety of different cabinet styles and models and deciding which one to select may seem confusing. The best way to choose is to consider such things as the color scheme and theme of your bathroom along with the available space that you have.
Once you are ready to purchase the units that you need there will be a few things to think about. The most important of those is whether or not you want a wall unit or a base type model. The great thing about the base unit is that it includes a counter top as well as additional storage space underneath.
The wood used to make bathroom cabinets usually includes such types as cherry, maple, and oak. The reason such woods are so important is due to the fact that the material needs to stand up to moisture and humidity.
Help with installation
After you have made the decision in what kind of cabinets you want then you have to install them. Make sure that you cover everything up with cloths and remove anything easily broken before ever starting the project. If you carefully stick to the steps for installation the job can be done quickly and easily.
One of the best things that you can do to save yourself some time is gather up everything that you will need and have it readily available to you. Make sure to get the tools required like drill, screwdriver, pencil, paper, stud finder, and tape measure.
Next use the stud finder on the wall where the cabinet will go to find the right place to put it up. Mark the spots where you need to hang the cabinet and use the measuring tape to ensure straightness. Use the drill to put holes in the back of the unit allowing a space for water supply and any pipes that will need to go through.
Place anchors into the wall at the pencil marks that correspond to the corners of your cabinet. Take the doors off and have a friend hold it against the wall in order to leave your hands free for the task at hand. Put screws in the corners of the unit and push them carefully into the wall anchors.
After the cabinet is put up you can add the finishing touches. Put the doors back on and all the hardware that is included with them. Put the counter top onto any of the base cabinets that you have put up, and then take your level and check to be sure that the entire unit is balanced. Once you have that done your job is finished.
Putting up and installing bathroom cabinets is not the hard job that most people think. By following a few simple steps you can easily finish the task and give yourself a sense of accomplishment in the process.
One of the key areas when decorating a home regards storage; and this is no truer a fact than when looking at bathroom cabinets. Whether you are looking for something to tidy away your clutter in a confined area, or looking for something sizable for your entire family needs.
Whilst it may be tempting to head straight to your local bathroom outlet to have a look at their offerings; it is advisable to consider a few important points.
An excellent way to ensure every base is covered is to jot down what you will be using the cabinet for. Have a look around your bathroom and see what you have to store. Also consider whether there are other items currently being stored in other areas of the house, (bleach, sanitary ware, bath time toys for example), that you may move.
You should also spend some time properly measuring the size of the space where the cabinet will be installed. Take some time to check all your measurements and, ideally, have a relative or friend make their own measurements for comparison. Have one quick final check before heading to the store.
