Mini blinds, also known as macro or micro are typically manufactured from aluminium although vinyl is also commonly used. The slats are normally between half an inch and two inches wide giving them their mini name. These forms of blind are usually the most affordable option for those redecorating.

The vertical variety has strips of fabric that hang from a track at the top of the window. They are highly practical and perfect for covering floor to ceiling windows. The angle of the strips can be adjusted in order to control the amount of light being let in.

The roman blind or shade is a fabric window covering that has overlapping pieces of fabric each being controlled by a drawstring connected to the fabric fold by a cane. Understandably they draw their name from the Roman civilisation and hence bring a Mediterranean style to homes.

The venetian blind is named after the city where they were most commonly used, although it is believed that they were brought to Venice by Persian traders early in the medieval period. They are manufactured from wood, vinyl or aluminium and are able to bring style and chic to a home. Finally horizontal blinds are often confused with the Venetian variety, fundamentally they are the same, both offering great light control by adjusting the angle of the slats.
