How A Custom Made Radiator Cabinet Could Cut Your Heating Bills
Bespoke radiator cabinets not only add a significant amount of visual flair and smartness to a home, but contribute a very practical benefit as well, one that could cut costs and help heat your house in a much more fuel efficient way. Bespoke radiator cabinets are always preferable to those which may be manufactured in bulk, since they will be far more strong, last significantly longer, and perform in a much more efficient way. A wooden radiator cabinet is subject to a great deal of heat, and frequently a good deal of water as well. This places much more stress on the natural materials and the joints, which is why radiator cover grills made specially to order will perform very much more successfully and offer years of style.
In days gone by almost every home would enjoy a impressive open fireplace around which everyone would gather. From the point of view of interior design we would refer to this as being a focal point of the room. However, with more effective central heating systems available, in many cases the only focal point in evidence is the widescreen TV! Being perfectly truthful, modern radiators don't introduce very much of grace or elegance to a property, and it's no surprise that they become hidden.
But custom made radiator cabinets are not about disguising radiators or hiding them from view. Instead, it's about helping them appear more eye-catching, adding grace and style, matching the style of the home and managing to compliment the style or ambience which you, or your interior designer, is attempting to achieve. Metal radiators can't easily be coloured or patterned without looking even worse, but a bespoke radiator cabinet can be made in such a way that the decoration or theme of your property is enhanced exactly.
A wooden radiator cabinet can be varnished, stained or painted to blend in perfectly with the room, instantly lifting the atmosphere and sense of completion. Very little feels worse than investing all your money and effort transforming a room only to find an ugly great block of white metal clinging to your wall, laughing at your attempts elsewhere! Radiator covers can be produced in a range of appearances, with the vent holes available in several sizes and shapes. From small slits to flowers, from crowns to intricate renaissance style patterns, the benefit is immediately evident.
The top of a radiator can be a difficult place, simultaneously able to gather a terrifying collection of dust and debris, whilst being completely inappropriate for setting paintings or items of interest. Custom-made radiator cabinets include a ledge that rests along the top, raised up a couple of inches above the top of the radiator itself. This ledge both protects the radiator from accumulating dust, as well as providing an ideal surface on which to position a few decorations or photographs. Because the ledge is a little above the radiator, the heat should not affect the items placed on top. Custom-made radiator cabinets manage to achieve this absolutely, and if it is your intention to place items on top of the radiator cabinet then it will be particularly important to make sure that it has been custom made for this use.
But it is not just to do with the visible improvements to a room that people select custom made radiator covers. A wooden radiator cabinet is able to make fundamental advances in the way the radiator functions, raising its efficiency. This means that your rooms can be heated up more expeditiously, lowering heating costs quite significantly. The saving in fuel alone may well compensate for the cost of the radiator cover itself in a short time.
How is this efficiency managed? Quite simply the radiator cover transforms the radiated energy of the radiator into convection heat, that is then directed into the room. Usually a radiator's warmth rises up, reaching the ceiling, cooling down and then sinking again. However, a wooden radiator cover draws cool air in underneath, and then projects the heat forwards through the radiator cover grills and into the room. Far less energy is wasted, and the heat that is generated is targeted to where it is most necessary.
When deciding whether to purchase a radiator cover or radiator cabinet it will be necessary to make sure that you select one that will be ideally matched to the role and to your particular wants. No two properties are totally the same, and there are always likely to be specific issues such as materials, furnishings, fixings and general use of the room that will impact on the suitability and effectiveness of your wooden radiator cabinet. Custom radiator covers take into account the specific attributes of your room, the radiator, and the ways in which you require the radiator cabinet to be incorporated into the design of the room. Having the right tailor-made radiator cabinet will make a big difference in terms of interior decoration as well as heating efficiency.
