Wall Mounted Lighting - Bathroom and Vanity in the Spotlight

Over the years I've been contacted by many home owners who were about to do some bathroom remodeling. Their questions ranged from asking me for some suggestions on wall paneling to wall tile or wall mirrors to wall shelf. It seems though, that the most popular question I gotten over the years about bathroom remodeling is about wall lighting. I've received more e-mails on the question of bathroom wall lighting than any other wall decor question over the last five years. This is what moved me to write this information today.

There are many themes on the subject of bathroom wall lighting. I am going to attempt to give you a general idea on what your choices are when it comes to styles, finishes and lighting options for your bathroom and vanity lighting. From there you can explore exactly what style will fill your needs to complete the theme of your bathroom remodeling project.

I'm going to start out with what styles of bathroom wall lighting are offered. Some of these styles will be difficult to picture, so if one or more of these styles captures your attention and you would like to know more, please do an online search for bathroom lighting and then you will be able to get detailed pictures and specifications on the bathroom lighting of your choice. With that said, your bathroom and vanity wall lighting fixtures are available in Americana, Art Deco, Arts and Crafts/Mission, Asian, Bohemian, Casual, Coastal, Contemporary, Country-Cottage, Crystal, European, Indoor/Outdoor, Iron & Rustic, Kids, Themed, Traditional, Transitional, Tropical and Victorian. There may be more, but this certainly gives you a good idea of what is offered.

Finish is an important factor. The outer finish on your bathroom wall lighting must fit in with the general decor of the room. For the most part your bathroom wall lighting finishes are available in Black, Brass/Antique Brass, Bronze, Brown, Brushed Steel, Chrome, Copper, Gold, Iron, Ivory, Mirrored, Natural Iron, Nickel, Pewter, Silver, Steel and white. With all these choices you should be able to pick out a finish worthy of your bathroom theme.

Depending on what your particular application is, these bathroom wall lighting fixtures offer a variety when it comes to the number of lights you want each fixture to have. You can go with as little as one light per fixture or as many as fifteen lights per fixture or any amount of lights per fixture between 1 and 15. The choice is totally up to you and your application.

So now you know style, finish and number of lights per fixture. Next we will explore you light bulb options. What type of bulb do want to insert into the bathroom wall lighting fixture? If the fixture is a florescent tube bulb you don't have much of a choice. If the bulb you want to insert into the fixture is some sort of decorative bulb, then you should go with an incandescent bulb. If the lighting fixture uses halogen lighting, then more than likely this lighting fixture completely hides this bulb from sight.

If you are concerned with conserving energy and lowering your electric bill, then your only choice of light bulb would be a CFL (compact florescent light). These energy saving light bulbs use less power and give off brighter light than the more power absorbing incandescent light bulbs. When CFL bulbs were first introduced they did not have much of a variety of styles to choose from. If you look around today you will find more styles of CFL bulbs being offered all the time. Xenon bulbs are also very energy efficient, but there is no style to this tiny bulb and bathroom wall lighting fixtures that use these light bulbs are concealing this bulb behind a shade or transparent/translucent cover.

You can now understand that that you have choices involving light bulbs also.

When you discover just how many beautiful bathroom/vanity wall lighting fixtures are available to you, you will see what an amazing difference the overall look of your bathroom can be with the addition of these brilliant works of art.
