Retro Bar Table - Resurrected!

Who says the dead do not come back to life? Retro did. When it died, it was deader than a doornail. When it came back, however, it returned not once, or twice, but several times and in different incarnations. The late 90s saw the comeback of bell bottomed trousers and platform shoes. The early years of the 21st century was a cornucopia of loud retro colors and even louder prints. At any given time, retro-themed shindigs are thrown by rather misled individuals wherever and whenever they can. Most recently we've seen the emergence of retro bars with retro trimmings - disco balls, zebra print shag rugs, flamboyant countertops, bar stools and chairs in lurid pastel shades, and retro bar tables.

Staying Alive
In its glory days, the retro bar table saw the most action among all glitzy retro furniture. In an era when bar tables were considered an extension of the dance floor, the retro bar table had seen its fair share of table dancing, tequila body shots, and the occasional mistaken identity as a bed for writhing bodies in heat. It's no wonder that through the years, the retro bar table is still the retro furniture above all retro furniture.

Not All that Glitters Is Gold
If you think a retro bar table is nothing more than a desk with four legs painted in an ugly shade of green, think again. Retro bar tables sport classy, elegant, and timeless looks. In fact, the retro bar table is often a beautiful piece of art with long, slender legs made of polished chrome and a table top of black laminate.

You might ask, "Why is it retro when it's black?" This is a good question as retro is practically synonymous with garish hues and horrible prints. The retro bar table simply reflects those garish hues and horrible prints from its contemporaries, such as those rather ridiculous swirls of pink and green on the bar stools or the bar top lined with sequins along the edges. And because of its harmless and inoffensive guise, the retro bar table can be used for a variety of other things, like an innocent coffee table.

More than Just the Saturday Night Fever
Clearly, the retro bar table should not be made to stay in the confines of a bar. It should be shown off so it will get the appreciation it very well deserves. Think of the retro bar table as a coffee table to adorn your modern living room. It would be the talk of the town, or at least your suburban neighborhood. You can also use your retro bar table as the focal point of your breakfast. Imagine having leisurely breakfast of orange juice, toast, and scrambled eggs while perched on a stool and reading a newspaper on your retro bar table. It's idyllic, at the very least. Alternatively, use your retro bar table as part of your porch furniture set or as a little magazine stand on your foyer. The possibilities are endless and only your imagination stands in your way.

Don't take the retro bar table for granted. After all, the retro bar table has withstood the assault of heavy platform shoes, spilled alcohol of varying toxicity, and, even - ugh! - body fluids. There is no doubt about it. The retro bar table is one furniture that will keep coming back in style - in this lifetime or the next!
