Door closers do not just close doors: they make us breathe easier, thus making our lives easier and happier.
Door closers basically do one thing in actuality, and that is to close doors. In the time when the world has gone high-end with technology, so far, doors have basically stayed pretty much the same. Except now, people are finding ways to conveniently close them, without actually doing it themselves! In a building where many people pass through its doors, it is really hard to open and close doors. Some doors tend to be too hard to push, while some are too soft. Some can even get stuck. Aside from embarrassment, some people accidentally sustain injuries because of this dilemma, especially when in a rush. Nowadays, the opening and closing of doors are an ease.
People do not really notice the hardware located above their heads every time they pass through a door. This device ensures that the door is firmly being locked behind every person opening it. Aside from providing additional security to a place, they also help maintain indoor temperature, by not allowing the elements of the outdoors interfere. In kitchens, it also helps keep out unwanted pests. It can also help prevent the spreading of smoke and flames during a fire. It can also help keep in or out noise or sounds.
These devices are now found in almost all commercial establishments, and because of its demand, there are now a lot found in the market. So, it can be quite dilemma on finding the right one, especially if you are looking for one. So, here are a few tips and info.
There are basically two types of door closers, and they differ in many ways, according to their specifications on your criteria. These two types are the automatic and the manual.
Manual ones rely on stored energy from an applied force in order to close a door, while automatic ones use electricity to close and open them. Automatic ones can be a drawback especially on blackouts, but recent models nowadays are made with an additional capability to allow doors to be manually used too.
Each type is preferable on different conditions. When there is considerably a large amount of traffic, it is wise to use automatic ones than manual ones. Manual ones are best if you have little traffic. Automatic ones are also best to use especially if the population of the traffic includes the handicapped and or those with limited movement.
You might also want to consider the number of doors that you have. If your establishment has several entrances, or one big entrance, then a considerable amount of money will be used. Automatics are more expensive then manuals, since they use electricity. Installing every door with an automatic closer will definitely cost you a lot. If you have many doors, you may choose to install automatics on one or two of them, while the rest are manual. On the other hand, if only have one big entrance; it is wise and best to use an automatic.
Another thing to consider would be the size of the door. These devices come in different sizes. When asking or purchasing for them, it is always wise to ask if they are properly tested and certified. A lot of these devices are now available online, so it is much easier to find information about them.
So the next time your door gets stuck, or you have to prop it up with your body, using all your body, maybe it is about time you think about door closers.
