Mold Removal In Six Simple Steps

There are six easy ways to have complete mold removal and once you go through all of the steps, your life should be mold-free. The first problem is going to be getting rid of the wetness. Mold cannot exist without some kind of a component of wetness or moisture. Just because you rid yourself of the mold doesn't mean that you rid yourself of the problem that could create mold again. Some of the reasons that mold can be caused from includes roofs or a tub overflowing. It can even come from excessive use of the humidifier. Or, it could be due to something as small as bad ventilation in the bathroom or kitchen. So the first step to fix the problem of mold is to see where it's located and to look around to see what could be the problem. If it's in the laundry room it could have something to do with the humidity levels of the washer and dryer. If it's roof, it needs to be retiled. So step one in mold removal is already over.

The second problem in mold removal is after you've located the cause of the moisture you then need to make sure that you dry everything in and or around the mold. Just like with clothes, if you dry them right away you don't need to worry about any mold growing on them. But if you put them into a bag while they are damp, they will become moldy. Well, homes and everything in them work the same way. If they get wet and stay in a closed environment then they will get mildew and moldy but if they are cleaned and dried right away, there is no chance of them getting mold on them. The wet surface should be cleaned and dried within the first two days of being wet or else it will have a better chance of growing mold.

If there is already mold, it will have to be treated, hence, mold removal. Protective equipment is always recommended as mold is dangerous to the health of anyone who comes in contact with it, especially if there is any kind of spores involved. There are some items you have within your home that can be saved from mold while others may need to be thrown out. Again, for example, clothes can be treated for mold. But on the other hand, any kind of paper and or book items may not be able to be saved from mold.

The fourth step of mold removal is to clean the tops of things. Anything that is hard plastic or glass or concrete or even metal can be cleaned of mold (most of the time). The basic way to clean it is with detergent and water. But, again, make sure to dry the area completely or you'll end up right where you started again.

The fifth step of mold removal, then, will be to disinfect the surface. In order to disinfect them you can mix about a half a cup of bleach for every gallon of water used and then put the solution on the desired area and let it dry right on the surface. One thing you shouldn't do though is mix bleach and ammonia.

The final and sixth step of mold removal is to make sure you always watch the areas where mold has grown before. There may be more than once cause for the mold and just because you've gotten one does not necessarily mean you've gotten them all.
