Your Cellphone And Water Damage

Cell Phones have become a vital part of everyday life that you feel totally disconnected without this small gadget. This has eased the communication process to an extent that you can hardly find any one who is not aware of this technology. The continuous increase in the cell phone subscribers demonstrates the fact that there are over million mobile phone users across the globe and the makers of cell phones are reaping profits.

Cell phone is a very sensitive electronic handheld gadget that needs to be used with care. This instrument comes with delicate parts and especially the inbuilt electronic circuits are quite complex and need extra care. The common problem that causes cell phone repair is damage caused by water. It is observed that more cell phone owners complain about water damage during scorching summer. This is not any seasonal disorder; the point is people spend more time outdoor near water bodies to chill out and accidental water contact with the cell phone results in trouble. As they relax near pool side or beach, they leave the cell phones exposed and this increases the risk of water damage.

The damage caused by water on cell phones is basically divided into two kinds: The internal and external water damage. The internal water damage means water gets into the internal parts of the cell phone and seeps in to the vital electronic circuit. This poses problem and you have to be very careful to avoid any such occurrence. Presence of minerals in sea water makes it salty and corrosive. If any salt deposit is left inside the cell phone, rusting sets in finally damaging the internal circuit.

The water in the swimming pools are rich in corrosive chlorine and this if trapped inside the cell phone reacts chemically with the metal components of the phone. If the cell phone is not repaired in time and used without taking care of the salt deposits, in due course of time, the phone becomes dysfunctional.

Usually when water enters the cell phones by mistake, people panic and in an attempt to rescue the gadget from technical failure, they do whatever comes to their mind at that particular point of time. In a desperate attempt, some of them put the phone in charge and connect it to electricity.

Quite a few of them introduce the cell phone in the microwave in a bid to steam the water droplets. Actually they don't realize that at high temperature inside the microwave oven, the circuit and other parts soften and melt. At increased temperature the cell phone might even explode inside the oven. This does more harm than water damage.

If you are confident of handling minor water damage problems, then you can go ahead and try these simple steps. First switch off the cell phone and then remove the battery. With the help of soft absorbing cloth, dry the battery and remove the water droplets. This is to ensure that water is not retained inside the phone for long and it improves the chances of repair. Also, this rules out any short circuit problems.

It is better not to treat your cell phone on your own and take it to an authorized mobile phone service centre. The professionally trained service men will handle the repair adeptly. If the phone is still under the warranty period, you need not pay them any repair charges. To avoid all these headaches and waste of time and money, it is better you protect the cell phone with a cover that is water proof.
