Building Your Downline Means Building Trust

You are engaged in affiliate marketing to earn an income. That's the plain and simple truth. You know one way to build an income faster is to build a downline team to assist you. However, you will not build a long-term downline if you do not inspire trust.

Neophytes entering affiliate marketing are also looking to earn an income. They want to be part of programs that can help them achieve this. When they come across an opportunity and delve into it, they're looking for certain things. Mainly, they want to trust that the program can deliver, as well as the program mentor.

That's where you, as an affiliate leader, come in. If you show that you individually, and the affiliate program overall, is a trustworthy one, your downline will grow. It will not only grow, it will consist of members who are apt to remain members for a long time.

Affiliate attrition saps the energy out of your online business. You want committed downline members who succeed personally, and help you succeed as well. That's why building trust with your downline builds your business. Here are five ways to build that trust:

Know Your Program

It's vital that you understand your particular affiliate program thoroughly. Know all that the program promises. Know all that the program doesn't promise. Why should you know these things? The reason is that you will have to explain this to those interested in the opportunity.

A potential downline member may inquire of you. They require information to make an informed decision on whether to become part of your program. If you have no answers, that does not inspire trust. If you have inaccurate or wrong answers, it gets even worse. You lose credibility, and so does the overall program.

The interested individual will probably move on to check out a different affiliate program. Therefore, know all the rules, regulations, stipulations, policies, procedures, commission structures, and more about your program. Be ready to give the right answers. Show you're knowledgeable and ready to help the interested party. You will build your downline quicker when you operate this way.

Know Your Products

This is akin to the above, but a little different. You may know all about the program, what it pays, et al. Do you know the products thoroughly and their nuances? When you do, and can explain these to new downline members, you build trust with them. Why is that? It's because they see you are passionate about the business and believe in what you are selling.

This inspires confidence in you and the program. A downline team will trust a mentor who knows their products well. That's because they know they can tap into that knowledge and passion. This can help them market these products to their personal target markets. New downline members get a head start on their business with a knowledgeable mentor backing them up.

Ask for Feedback

You can build trust by showing an interest in the opinion of your downline members. During conference calls, online text chats, or whatever, ask for their feedback. This can be feedback on marketing initiatives you presented to them. It can be asking them for their ideas on how to better market a new product.

What's important is that communication within your downline is not a one-way street. It cannot be all you just issuing directives. Make yourself available to your downline. Encourage them to present their views on how they are building their businesses.

Provide Quality Incentives

Offer quality incentives to hard-working downline members and watch your business grow. Incentives show you trust that they have what it takes to achieve goals. Incentives show that you appreciate those who take their marketing efforts to the next level.

Incentives show your commitment to your team, especially if the incentives come out of your pocket, not the affiliate program vault. Incentives can lead to your downline recruiting into their downline. This is as they see the rewards that can come from growing their business.

Offer to go the Extra Mile

There's no better way to build trust, and your downline, than to offer one-on-one help. This is beyond the general team training. A new team member may want to begin article writing as they learn about the benefits of an article marketing campaign. This may be all new to them.

You, offering help so they can understand article marketing and article distribution better, will build trust with them. So can offering to help them build their own downlines. It's all about letting them know that you have an interest in their individual success and are there to help them.

Trust me; building trust will build your downline, and your business. Affiliate marketing is not just about products. It's also about relationships, and the people behind all aspects of the business. Take an honest, sincere interest in your downline team, and watch them reciprocate in kind.
