Setting Up Your Controlled Marketing Campaign
We like to be in control of our lives. When we do not have a handle on things and all seems chaotic about us we are usually tense and unsatisfied. This is true in many areas of life.
It is also true when it comes to affiliate marketing. When you are not in control of your affiliate marketing efforts, and conduct them haphazardly, the result is typically agitation. Your concerns are directed at why you are not securing income from your marketing efforts.
The problem may be that you are not controlling your marketing message to your target audience. You may be speaking in general terms about your affiliate product. Your article writing efforts may be speaking in generalities as well. You may be doing a lot of talking through your article marketing campaigns but not connecting with your readers.
What causes ineffective article marketing and other promotional efforts. The main cause is a lack of understanding of your niche market's needs. When you do not know what your target audience needs you will present a vague message to them that does not garner their interest.
You may have heard of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Abraham Maslow was an American psychologist who proposed that humankind has physiological, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization needs. While a short article cannot expound on all his theories we can see that your potential customers want solutions for these needs. Your marketing message concerning your affiliate products must speak to these needs.
Consider physiological needs and your affiliate product. Physiological needs are those basic human needs for shelter, food , water, sleep and the like. Does your affiliate product answer one of these needs. Do you sell an herbal product such as a tea or supplement to help soothe people into a better night's sleep. Then you need to control your message to your target audience by explaining how your product specifically will meet their need for a great night's sleep.
Consider safety needs and your affiliate product. Under Maslow's hierarchy of needs safety of property is a need all human beings desire. Do you market insurance products for an affiliate parent, or home security devices. Then you must control your message to your target audience concerning this. You must tell how your product will make sure they receive reimbursement for stolen property. You must explain how your security product can protect their home from intruders.
Two other needs Maslow spoke of were the need for love/belonging and esteem. Are your affiliate products lifestyle books on human relationships, overcoming shyness, developing speaking skills and such. Then you must control your marketing message to show people how these books can help them function better and interact better with others. You must get the message out about how they can build confidence and speaking skills through the books you are marketing.
Consider the self-actualization needs that Maslow espoused. He stated that humans have a need for creativity, and problem solving, among other self-actualization needs. Do you market craft and hobby products that help others become more creative? Do you have an affiliate software product that helps business operators solve inventory control problems. Then your controlled marketing message must speak about how your affiliate product promotes creativity and problem solving specific to their needs.
The above is a broad overview of how you must match your affiliate product solutions to your target audience's basic needs. Knowing their basic needs can help you speak to them about specific needs your affiliate product can meet. Control your message to your target audience by understanding human needs. Show how your affiliate product can meet these needs and you will gain customers for life.
