What's Just Off Your Marketing Radar Screen?
Affiliate marketing is all about promoting. Affiliate mentoring is all about teaching your downline to promote effectively. No doubt, your downline consists of individuals of varied personalities, beliefs and upbringing. In addition, they each bring to the table their own set of life circumstances. On top of all that, each one is engaging in affiliate marketing with different goals.
As an affiliate mentor, you must strive to understand your diverse downline better. Through tracking sales performance, you will see who the savvy go-getters are, the aggressive marketers. However, a close look at your statistics will also point out members who are off your radar screen. These members do not initially attract your attention, due to lack of sales. You must look off your radar screen; these members need your attention.
They need your attention for two reasons. First, you risk losing them as team members because of their lack of sales production. If they see no results from the affiliate program, they will drop out. Losing downline members can spread bad word-of-mouth online and offline about your affiliate program.
Remember, online, people do talk on affiliate topic related social forums. Offline, they do tell family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances about their affiliate marketing highs and lows.
It doesn't matter that these downline members are often their own worst enemy. The word may still get out from them that your affiliate program doesn't work.
Your job as an affiliate mentor is to help those members who are underperforming and off your radar screen. You have to bring them back from that great expanse of inactivity. You have to show them that the affiliate program does work with the right kind of effort expended.
The second reason downline members' need your attention is so their testimonials will help other new members who come aboard. Consider this; from who do your struggling downline members want to hear from. Yes, they want to hear from "The Naturals".
These people jumped feet first into affiliate marketing and made a big splash. They built sales quickly, relatively speaking, and continue to build their businesses. These types of affiliate marketers do have inspiring stories to tell. All downline members should listen to and follow their advice.
However, struggling downline members also want to hear from those who struggled as they now are. They want to hear from those marketers who wallowed in the mire of no sales and lost opportunities.
They want to know how they reinvigorated their businesses to the point people now see them as successful. They want to hear and learn from them because they can relate to their stories. People have a natural inclination to listen to those who went through what they are now going through.
That's why it's imperative that you connect with downline members that don't show up on your sales radar. You have to make them your success project. You make them your success project firstly for their own good.
Secondly, you make them your success project for the good of new members who will enter your downline. They can mentor others who are going through what they went through.
Of course, thirdly, you make them a success project for yourself. You still want them to help you to continue to grow your business. Hey, there has to be a benefit to you as well.
The best way to get those off your sales radar screen back on is to teach them to prioritize. Show them affiliate marketing activities they should be performing on a regular basis.
Next, show them how to schedule these activities. You do not want them overwhelmed with all there is to do. Explain to them that it's best to concentrate on one initiative per day or per week.
Help them fine-tune their schedule for maximum productivity. Maybe article writing and article marketing via an article distribution service will be Week 1's focus. An email campaign may be the focus of Week 2. Week 3 may be social forum posting. Week 4 may be their time to engage in website promotion activities. Whatever it is, help them get on a schedule.
Look at the periphery of your sales radar screen. Off somewhere on the lost horizon are downline members in a freefall. Catch them before it's too late. Help them re-focus and build their businesses properly. Inspire them as an affiliate mentor.
When they succeed, teach them to inspire others. Then when everyone is flying high and on your radar screen, you can watch your profits, and theirs, soar.
