Business Email Lists: Effective Marketing
One of the most difficult aspects of email marketing is to find a list or a group of clients that are interested in reading about, using, and, of course, buying the services or products that you are marketing. Building this list can take a considerable amount of time if all you have to rely on are hits to your website and clients signing up for emails and newsletters. Business email lists that provide you with information about each prospective client as well as information about their areas of interest will help you get a jump on developing a strong, active email marketing campaign.
If you are considering using preset, targeted business email lists it is important to check how often the lists are sold or recycled to different customers that are on the email lists. You don't want to be marketing your product or service to customers that are also receiving emails from four, five or six of your competitors. This potentially could happen if the company that you buy your list from doesn't limit the number of times each list is sold. Keep in mind that the longer lists are circulated the more dead email addresses you are likely to encounter. It also will certainly cut down on the number of customers you will get from the emails since they are going to be receiving numerous offers from many different companies.
These lists have to be very specific to help you narrow down which customers on the list are most likely to purchase specific products or services. For example, if you have a book distribution and sales company it would be important to market differently to businesses, individuals or even groups or schools through online correspondence. It wouldn't be cost effective or worth your while to market business books to schools or children's books to businesses. Having the ability to search or refine your results within specific preset and targeted areas can greatly impact your response and increase your sales.
Some will also include additional information about the individual/potential customer. This can include specific information on the gender of the user, the actual IP address and even their physical mailing address, age or personalized areas of interest. This is all obtained through surveys that are completed when the user agrees to participate on the various sites.
Having all this additional information is a definite plus. Imagine if you could correspond with a specific age group or target your campaign to men or women, depending on the product or service you were selling. This would be a great option for holiday sales, feature items or even promoting new products and services.
Knowing what IP address the information is generated from can likewise help with specific marketing and information. You can develop campaigns for geographic areas based on IP addresses just as you can create relevant information on newsletters and information sheets that spark reader's interest. People are always more interested in relevant information to their area and location as opposed to more general information that is not specific. Literally you could group your list into these areas and make a few simple changes to advertisements and information to allow each one of your customers to see your company as a business that is very aware of their local issues, needs and concerns.
Business email lists need to be effective and also need to provide enough information to allow you to search and refine them based on your requirements. They also should have a limited use, perhaps only being sold to one or two people to keep your correspondence and information fresh and of interest to the customers.
