Why Does Building A Subscriber List Seem So Hard To Do?
Those who start an online business and need to build up a list of subscribers and customers should do a little homework. They should learn to use some of the tools that successful online businessmen use. Some of these tools include the opt-in page, the blog and the newsletter. There are other tools to use to build your list, but these are the three most important and will be discussed here.
First, it is necessary to start a good foundation upon which to build. That foundation is the blog. The blog is the tool to use when you want to build a line of communication from you to your potential customer. The blog will give you a reason to ask for an email address. It is that email address that will forge a bond of trust between you and your subscriber. Always respect that bond and you will build a good reputation. That is something that you can't buy.
Next, let's take a look at starting a newsletter. The newsletter is a clearinghouse of information. It is used for information, free reports, interviews and even opinions about your product. If you have any special promotions, discounts or free offers, here is where you should find them. It is the main tool used to get an email address on the blog. You should put a subscriber box on every page of your website. If the visitor to your website missed it in the beginning, he will see it eventually.
The opt-in or "squeeze" page is the tool used to ask for the email address. Your opt-in page should take the visitor to your blog, where you present your newsletter. Never use the opt-in page to direct visitors to your sales page. Send them to your blog, instead. You are trying to build a list of subscribers as well as a good reputation. The visitor will decide whether to trust you with his email address. Be as helpful as you can. It doesn't hurt to offer something free along with information.
Always offer quality products as well as information. Be certain to offer something that people want or need. Go overboard with your offers. Your customers will love it and they will remember it. You are building a list of customers as well as a list of subscribers. Your email campaign, with information about your product and any supporting information, should be used as a tool for feedback. This will help you find out how well you are servicing your customers, and how they feel about your product.
You should use an auto responder to pass on information about special promotions, discounts, sales and any new information about your product. Remember, emails work both ways. Feedback is important. You can find free auto responders at Google-Auto Responders. Use them to build confidence as you build your list.
When you start your blog, always include your picture and something about yourself. Let you subscribers know that you care. Let them know that you are willing to give them any help they need to solve their problems. Always use a thank you page on your website. The customers love it and it helps to build trust and respect. Your list building efforts will pay off well with satisfied customers who are likely to return to your site again.
