7 Ways to Market Your Business Using Google

Google is far more than a search engine. Google offers so many different ways for you to market your business and build traffic to your website.

The secret to getting the most from Google is to understand the various tools that Google offers for marketing your business, and then use those tools. By implementing all of these tools in your business, you'll get more traffic, and you'll increase your chances for sales.

Here are seven tools Google offers (There are many more.):

1. Google Sitemaps

A sitemap is like an index of your site. It tells the search engines what content is on your site, gives descriptions, and includes the relevance of each page on your site.

The easiest and fastest way to get your site into Google, and this is where you need to start, is by creating a sitemap and submitting to Google through the Webmaster tools section.

2. Google Base

Google Base is slightly different from Google Sitemaps. In fact, it's almost like a free classified ad site.

What this application allows you to do is to post very specific content. You may either post one item at a time, or you may submit a datafeed of your content.

If you don't own a website, or your business is offline, this is a particularly good way to get traffic online.

3. Google Book Search

When you submit your book to book search for indexing, you give your potential readers an opportunity to find out more about what your book is all about.

Although some writers worry that Google, or someone else, will steal their content, the truth is, this is an easy way for you to get a lot more exposure for your writing.

4. Google Checkout

If you want to increase your sales, the simplest way to do it is to start an affiliate program. The problem with starting an affiliate program is that it can get expensive very quickly if you don't carefully choose the tools you use.

The easiest way to solve this problem is Google Checkout. It's pay as you go. Also, Google has a large list of sites that offer affiliate program management tools that integrate with Google Checkout. It's possible to automate your affiliate program so all you have to do is promote it.

5. Google Local

Google Local is like the new yellow pages. It has millions of listings for businesses. You may submit your business here for free. Google will want to verify your listing, but once it's verified, your business will be added.

One of my clients has used Google Local to achieve number one listings in the Google, as well as a listing in Google Local.

6. Google Groups

Groups allow you to connect with others who are interested in the same topics you are interested in. It is also a way to post your articles, ads, and other related promotional materials to groups that accept the content you are writing. If you are looking for a way to connect with customers, this is a good place to look for those who are interested in what you offer.

7. Google Adsense/Adwords

This program is different from the others (except for Google Checkout) because it is a paid program.

Google Adsense allows you to add Google advertising to your sites to earn revenue. Google Adwords allows you to advertise within the Google search engine for a pay per click fee. The bonus is that your business will be listed in the ads section of the search engine in as little as 15 minutes, a quick way to get in Google.

Google offers so many ways to market your business, and most of them are free. If you want more traffic and sales, then Google is definitely a site you need to consider.
