Search Engine Optimization And Why Its So Important

Usually most people already understand the positives of having your website optimized, but in some cases people that are new or just starting up on the Internet still have no idea that optimizing your pages could either make your or break you. The main definition behind search engine optimization, also known to some people as SEO is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results.

Now even though there is no way to really figure out the secrets to search engines algorithms like Google, there are still several different attributes you can try out in order to achieve high ranking status. For the most part you are going to want to try and reach for the first page on the results of these search engines. You can easily accomplish this by following the tips listed below as a basis for your goals. Obviously if you find something that works for you but isn't listed below, that's fine!

Backlinks are inbound links to an Internet site or webpage. In the search engine optimization world, the number of backlinks is a wonderful indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page (though other measures, such as PageRank, are likely to be more important). The more backlinks you have the more popular your site will be. You can accomplish backlinks through a series of processes including but not limited to; articles, blogs, social networking, link exchanges, sig links on forums, even posts on forums!

Content; any and all of the content on your site is important. Through this content search engines will be able to index not only the content on your website, but also on the websites that have your links on them (backlinks). It's important that you try to keep your website as relevant as possible, and try to keep up with 1-3 posts per each day, this will allow fresh content to constantly be seen on your sites by search engines.

By relevant I mean, if you have a website about automobiles or a domain name relevant to autos, it's a good idea to keep all of the content, links, photos, on your site relevant to autos. So you can write about cars or trucks, you can have your affiliate programs on your site selling car accessories and your keywords can be things dealing with automobiles. You can even get a little more specific and have content/keywords on your site for brand names of cars like Ferrari, Acura, Jaguar or BMW.

Coding on your site is another incredibly important aspect of keeping your website up-to-date and "readable" to the search engines. It's important to make sure your meta-tags, and your titles organized. Search engines will also be picking these up as well!

Keywords are always important but, I always find what's even more important is trying to keep your main keywords the same, especially if you are trying to rank high on the search engines with that specific keyword.

For example, if I own a food site I might want to include my site name as a keyword along with some of the main food items and specialties I offer. So if I keep my keywords as The Lemon Plum, Italian Red Wine Reviews, Kitchen Gadgets, etc, then if I optimize and market correctly those keywords could potentially be searched for by users and my site could potentially show up in the search engine results.

These procedures won't just make it easier for search engines to "pick up" on your site, but it will also in turn help people pick up on your sites, this will allow you all sorts of options. Most people only care about rankings for a reason, and these reasons usually include sales reasons. They might have a website with Adsense, CPM banners, affiliate products, services they are offering, and they want people to see their websites as often as possible so that they can make money from their sites.

This is after all the main reasoning behind anyone having a website nowadays. People don't usually have a website without some money making option on it. It's the whole reason for owning a site to begin with! I know for my three sites I have developed; one has AdSense, one has CPM, CPA, Adspace, Featured blogs, and my third site is a business I run online. So all three of these are money makers for me, but first you need traffic. Remember indexing equals traffic and traffic equals potential revenue!
