Information About Search Engine Optimization And Why You Need It

Most of us that own websites already know the importance of search engine optimization, however, for you newbies still getting into things like this, I'm about to explain what search engine optimization is and why someone like you would need it on your website (amongst other things).

Now when you have a website the higher its ranker in the search engines, the more popular it will be and the more visitors you will get to your site. Obviously the more visitors you get the more business you get; this goes for retail sites, affiliates, services, corporations, freelancers, etc.

Now according to studies done on optimization about 20-80% of your visitors will come from search engines, and most people won't look past the fourth result page on said search engine.

Of course this doesn't go for everyone (especially me) but for the most part this is true. However, now it's imperative to get your website ranked on at least the first page in order to get the best results, the best rankings and the most visitors. SEO is the process of improving incoming traffic to a website from Search Engines. This can be done naturally or organically.

One of the most essential things that involves SEO is content on your site. As the masters announce "Content Is King." You want your site to be substance rich with numerous different keywords within the site and through the content on your Internet site. For example, if your site is about cars, then you would want to include keywords about cars, automobiles, trucks, wheels, accessories (CD players, blue-ray, speakers), and you can even get more specific and add keywords to brands of cars and other vehicles suck as Acura, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.

Search engines will "crawl" or spider the web for link in order to index your website through their own top secret algorithms, which are constantly changing. For the most part in order to reach top rank you will need things such as PPC and backlinks. But another good way to ensure quality ranking is to have a website with new and unique content on it you could also have an RSS feed on your site so that the content is always fresh and new articles are submitted consistently to keep visitors interested and the search engines satisfied.

All in all it's a good idea to play new content 1-3 times a day every single day. If you can't keep up with this that is usually about the time people will either hire someone to write for them or they will install an RSS feed.

These feeds include all sorts of content from articles and news, from all sorts of topics depending on what is relevant to your site. Search engines like Google and Yahoo are looking for fresh information, good linking and relevance. Keep these key points in mind and you will be high ranked in the search engines before you know it!

A lot of people think that Google is God when in all actuality all the top search engines are an important part in producing high ranks; obviously you can't keep up with all the zillions of search engines out there so it's a good idea to try to get ranked on the top five search engines which are Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask, and AOL Search.

Other important parts of Search Engine Optimization is the coding, titles on your site, link building, and user-friendly capabilities. You want to make sure all the coding on your site is "clean" coding. If everything is all scrambled together and you have broken links and your meta words are all scrambled, it makes it tougher for Search Engines to find your site let alone index it.

Obviously indexing is a big part of getting traffic to your site because if the search engines cant index it, then your site wont show up within the search engine results for your specific websites or keyword phrases.

If you compose posts or blogs on your Internet site, make sure the subjects are "keyword rich" but don't overdo! If you would like a lot of genuine people traveling to your websites that are actually involved in what you're speaking about you should get in to backlinks!

Backlinking is basically a link back to your web site. You can insert backlinks to your site on other people's blogs and websites, through article submission, as well as directory submission!
