The more people are willing to pay to put the ad up, the more you will get paid when people click it. This is called pay per click, and it is a great way to monetize your site.

You can also use a similar program that is called pay per lead. For this you will send people to a site, and they will be asked to complete a task, such as fill out an application, or survey. For each person who completes the task you receive a commission. Pay per leads can pay significantly higher than pay per click. The key to pay per lead is to make sure the offer they must complete is something they are looking for. For example, if you are running a site about credit cards you can probably find a pay per lead that will offer an interest free credit card. When they go they will just fill out the application for the interest free credit card and you will get paid. If the offer is not related to your site people will not complete the task.

Affiliate Programs

Another method of monetizing your traffic are affiliate programs. You can link up with other tried and tested sites and online companies and monetize your traffic by having a percentage of sales generated by traffic coming from your site.

The basic idea is, traffic generated from your site will go to another site that can offer a product that you do not carry. Many programs can keep track and make records of transactions that was made possible because of site linkage.

When purchases are made by customers that was led by your site to their site you get a percentage of that sale. Affiliate programs would give you the benefit of monetizing your traffic without the actual need of carrying or promoting a certain product.

There are many ways to monetize your traffic, you just have to make sure your monetization method is related to your site. The more closely what you are offering is related to what your visitor is looking for the more likely they will be to click, and then you will make the money.
