One of the most powerful ways to promote products that you are selling is through Email marketing. These can be your own products or affiliate products it doesn’t matter. Using Email will be effective for either.

All Email marketing begins with an opt-in list. List building is the key to being successful in Internet marketing. You have many options as to how you can build your opt-in list. One of the most popular is offer a Free newsletter to visitors on your website. This newsletter should relate to both your industry and your products. Most importantly is should provide relevant and useful information for your subscribers.

You should also require your subscribers to “double opt-in”. This means that after they register for your newsletter they get a confirmation Email that they must confirm before receiving anything from you. Double opt-in lists are the best and most effective over the long haul.

Your newsletter, if properly crafted will serve two purposes. The first is to convey useful information to your subscribers about new products, industry news and new opportunities. c.The last is the special announcement or “broadcast” Email. This is one time Email that offers a product or service. If properly presented, to show how this product or service will serve their needs, you can develop outstanding conversion rates with this type of Email.

One Caveat – Do not milk your list for sales. If you continually bombard them with offers without providing sufficient content you will see your conversions decline and watch you list shrink. Be sure that you continue to provide useful information without always selling something. This will lead to long-term success for your business.

There is one tool that is absolutely necessary for successful Email marketing. That is an autoresponder. It is probably the single most useful tool ever created for Internet marketing. What an autoresponder does is allow you to create Email marketing messages that are placed in sequence and every time someone signs up for your list they will automatically receive your sequential Email marketing messages. You have to set it up once but then automation kicks in. It is like having a perpetual money machine.

One thing you need to be aware of when engaging in Email marketing. That is the Can Spam Act. It is extremely important that you comply with the provisions of this Act. You will need to have several disclosures. On your email messages your signature file must comply with the act. If you send out newsletters with advertising within them you have to disclose this fact. All of the major autoresponder services address the Can Spam Act so be sure to check this out before you begin your Email marketing programs.

One other useful tool is a Spam filter check. These are usually available through your autoresponder supplier at no cost. Be sure to check your sales messages before you send them to make sure that they will not be filtered out. If you don’t much of your time and effort will be negated, as your messages will end up in your subscribers Spam file and never be read.

Getting proficient at list building Email marketing is the ultimate goal of every Internet marketer. It is the closest thing to creating Free money from your Internet business.
