The Hard Truth About the Immediate Edge

If you are thinking of joining Dan Raine and Ed Dale's internet marketing coaching program the Immediate Edge but currently undecided then you'll want to read this article.

Specifically we'll take a look at who should - and who shouldn't - sign up, the program's major strengths, and how to get the most benefit from the program. After reading this article, you should be able to make your mind up as to whether Immediate Edge is right for you.

Who should sign up for Immediate Edge?

One thing for certain is that if you're a beginner to internet marketing then this isn't for you. There is no hand holding to get you going slowly, this is real in at the deep end sink or swim stuff.

If you're a beginner go and join the Thirty Day Challenge or SBI, where you'll learn the basics of internet marketing and once you've got that experience under your belt you'll be in a better position to take advantage of Immediate Edge.

If you do have experience of internet marketing and know how to get traffic to your website then you may be right for Immediate Edge. If you're already selling stuff online, either directly or through an affiliate program, even better.

And if you're looking to find out what the really cutting edge stuff going on in the labs of the leading internet marketers to really increase your email list signups, rocket your traffic numbers and boost your sales conversion ratios then there is a good chance that it's time to look no further and sign up for the Immediate Edge.

Major strengths - and weaknesses

When I first joined Immediate Edge it was based around a project approach, the idea being that members were allowed to see what Dan and Ed were doing as they went along - a peek over their shoulders if you like.

While this approach sounds good, it didn't work well in practice. Projects seemed to be dropped without explanation after a few lessons and what was provided didn't always follow on well.

While I have an enormous amount of respect for Dan and Ed they didn't appear to be adhering to one of their golden rules - you need a team to make things work these days.

Luckily they recognised this weakness and addressed it by taking on a number of interns to get their hands dirty behind the scenes. More recently they have also decided change the focus to more cutting edge internet marketing techniques and tools, things that will start to be used by other internet marketers in 12 months time and far longer than that to become mainstream techniques.

That means that the monthly newsletter produced by Dan will be immediately useful as you can take strategies and tactics straight from its pages and apply them immediate.

While Dan focuses on producing written information, Ed is the master of video. Although some claim he has a face designed for radio - and others say he has a voice designed for mime - he is a natural in front of the camera and while his videos are uber informal, he really knows how to break down the barriers created by distance and the guru/disciple relationship so that you feel you know him. No wonder he is a highly successful internet marketer, as he gains people's trust immediately.

Also worth mentioning is Robert Somerville who is the brains behind some of the ideas in Immediate Edge, and who I would like to hear more from directly.

And I haven't even mentioned the peer-to-peer social book marking that comes with Immediate Edge membership, which will automatically build up to more than 50 backlinks for you once you've entered some very simple data about your web pages.

How to gain maximum benefit

New members to The Edge (as it's known by insiders) often find it tough going to start with as there is no hand holding and little guidance. In a way it's like taking the step from High School education to University, where you move from a situation where you are taught everything step by step to a situation where you're given some basics and told to get on with it.

This is sink or swim time, but the thing to do is not to panic and start to go through the backlog of information a piece at a time - read all the newsletters, follow each course, and - this is important - think how each new piece of information can be applied to your own internet business.

Now, some of the concepts are so new that this can be difficult. They aren't always immediate obvious, in which case file them somewhere in your mind until you do see a way to apply them. And unless you do apply them you'll gain nothing.

About the Author

The Immediate Edge is definitely not for beginners and will bring real cutting edge techniques to your internet marketing. While there were certainly some issues with how information was presented in the past, this has been recognised and steps taken to improve the program.
