Find A Hosting Company In The UK
When it comes to web hosting, you really want to make sure that you find the best company you can to go with. For me, a big thing to look for is the customer service. If they don't answer or cant help you figure certain things out then this probably isn't a good site to go with. I made the mistake of choosing a hosting account on the fly and now I'm paying for it. Unfortunately I probably wont ever leave or change it because it would most be just a plain old pain!
Do yourself a favor and check out some hosting websites in the UK before you pick a definite choice. Make sure that they know what they are doing and what they are talking about. If your a newbie like I was or like I am, you wont automatically know what to do while in your cpanel so you are going to have to rely on people that do know what they are doing.
You are also going to want to check out the different packages they have available and the different prices as well. Its always important to look for a hosting site that has a few different packages available. This will allow you to "start" at whatever package you are comfortable with or need at that particular time.
I always tell beginners that its a good idea to start out using the lowest package. But this isn't always the case necessarily. Just because you are new to all of this doesn't mean you wont need a medium sized package. But this is just something you will have to take a look at. Most hosting sites will have the packages lined up next to each other, so this should give you a good idea of the different variations for each package.
These variations may lie within domain usage (bandwidth), domain parking, domains and sub-domains, FTP accounts and databases. It really depends on what you plan on using the website for. If you just want a place to do a personal website, you might be better off using the smaller package, or if you want to run a full time business you might want to try the bigger package.
You could also try an option called "dedicated" if you are going to start a huge website online and want a nice dependable and *dedicated* server to use. The dedicated option will allow you to customize your package for your particular needs instead a defaulted package.
These dedicated hosting accounts are usually quite a bit more expensive than a regular hosting package but in the end it is well worth its weight in gold! A dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a kind of Internet hosting where the client rents a entire server not shared with anyone else.
This is more adaptable than shared hosting, as organizations have full control over the server(s), including selection of operating system, hardware, etc. Server administration can usually be rendered by the hosting company as a supplemental service. In some cases a dedicated server can offer less operating cost and a larger return on investment (ROI).
Dedicated servers are most often housed in data centers, similar to co-location facilities, supplying extra power sources and HVAC systems. So if this is an option you wold like to learn more about, then by all means learn more about it.
Ask questions, see what sort of options they offer and how to get something like this set up. In the end, a dedicated server just may be the best thing for you and your needs!
