Advertising Blind Folded & Naked

Now that I got your attention:

We all know that advertising is a tricky subject and with the many offers that flood our inbox and search engines, it is not hard to get lost in this forest called advertising. The most important thing to learn in advertising is to know what works for you and apply it over and over again. Too many times, people get caught up trying to employ a number of tactics and ultimately get discouraged and give up.

One of the best advertising methods available is writing articles. Article writing is a powerful resource almost guaranteeing success if the right guidelines are followed. When writing an article always acknowledge the benefits your future customers will receive. So basically, Content is King. Another important thing is never lie to your customers. Sometimes we don’t give our customers enough credit but most people can smell a scam a mile away.

When writing an article, make sure you are supplying a solution to a specific problem. And it helps to know what you are talking about. Do test runs to gauge the effectiveness of your articles by submitting to several article directories and see which ones result in the highest conversion rates.

Word of mouth is always the best determining factor in deciding where to place your articles. Ask around, get on forums, and use the search engines. There are hundreds of resources available at our beck and call. Use them. Of course there will always be duds out there. Some article sites claim to be bigger than they actually are, some never promote their site. This is what I refer to as a “dead-mans site”. Stay far away from those.

Think on a pro level. Always make sure your articles are formatted correctly. This is often overlooked, but performing a spam check now could save you a lot of frustration and disappointment later.

When writing your articles, one of the most important things you need to remember is never try to close the sale on the first meeting. You don’t try to sleep with a girl on the first date, the same applies to selling on the internet. I mean don’t get me wrong-it’d be nice to get her on the first date but where do you go from there? Get the picture. Slow down, and get to know your customer. Instead, give something away free like a newsletter, or subscription. Giving away free “stuff” sends a clear message that you are about business and not just after the quick buck.

Last but not least, when you hire someone to write your articles/ads, make sure you are always getting original quality content. There are too many fly by night article writers on the net so proceed with caution in this arena. But proceed. In a nutshell, all you have to do is follow instructions, have quality content, consider your customer and make a path to the bank. On a closing note, never be afraid to invest in yourself. Like my grandfather always used to say, “You can’t hit the jackpot unless you put a coin in the machine”.
