My Adventures In Internet Marketing

Ive been an Internet marketer for awhile now, and I've learned a few things that I'd like to share with anyone that could use some advice. I don't claim to be an Internet guru. These statements are strictly from my own personal experience, and this is a work in progress.

The first word of advise I have for the new Online Home Business person is, don't expect to start making a lot of money right away. It takes time to build up your Online Home Business just like a brick an mortar business. Expect to take at least a year before you start to see a four digit monthly income. Although for the educated, or with the right program, or product it can happen overnight. Just don't be too disappointed if it doesn't.

The second piece of advice for someone wanting to start an Online Home Business. Nothing in this world is free. You're going to get what you pay for. The only thing I ever got from an FFA was an email box full of junk.

Everybody talks about search engine ranking. The higher your search engine ranking, the more free traffic you get to your site. The Internet is always changing, and as of this writing the best way to get a top ranking in the search engines is to get as many quality links pointing to your site as possible. An excellent way to get a bunch of links pointing to your site is to write an article, get it published on the web with a link to your site in your "about the author" section, or in your signature. If you don't think you're capable of writing a good article there are ghost writers that will write it for you, for a fee. There are plenty of sites out there for this too, but there are also software programs that will take care of 90% of the work. Then you've got submit your article to the article submission sites. This is a lot of work, even if you've got a software program to do it for you. If you can afford it, I highly recommend you outsource this task. The next thing you've got to do is get other like minded quality sites to link to you. Just do a search for like minded sites, go to the sites, and look for a link that says something like "Link to us", or "Add a Link","Add a Site", etc. Most sites will require reciprocal linking, but not all. There are software programs to make this easier to do, and websites set up just so webmasters looking for link partners can find each other. Next, you've got to SEO your site. This is something you should get some training on. All of this is required to get that free traffic from the search engines.

I would advise against pay per click, or Adwords until your sure you know what your doing. You can blow your advertising allowance real quick here if you don't know what your doing. Of course if you do know what your doing, these two forms of advertising are great, but get some training first.

Start a Blog. This is one of the greatest things to come along since sliced bread. Every time you add content to your blog, you can add another link pointing to your site.

Don't jump at every advertising offer you get once you get going. You'll just end up chasing your tail, and throwing your money away. Do though, get yourself an ad tracking program. You've got to know which ads are working, and which are not. One more thing, budget your advertising so you can spend the majority of it in the fall, and winter months, when things really get hopping

Another piece of advice I have is about spamming. Spamming is not only unethical, it's illegal, and ineffective. Don't do it.
Getting your own opt-in list, and a good auto responder like GetResponse or Aweber is were it's at. At Get Response you can get a free auto responder, but it will have their ads on top of your messages, which will cost you a few sales. Upgrading to the Pro account is less than $20.00/month.
When you're just starting out it's better to sell information, or small ticket items rather than harder to sell big ticket items. Resell rights to e-books is very hot right now.

Your's in the quest,
Roderick Eash
