How To Get Ahead In Leaflet Distribution

Student life for most is a little bit hard, after spending a student loan on an iPod, a few months supply of value baked beans and squandering the left-over cash on beer, the average student needs to find a job to buy text books and the like. There are quite a few options out there for those that want to work, and I worked my around most of them. I spent time as a bar person, but I spent all my wages on more beer when my shift finished, so quit that one. I did some data entry for a postal competition company, but being stuck in a room typing against the clock in a five hour shift was not worth the minimum wage pittance. The depression it duly caused led to me spending my wages in the pub on the way home, so still no text books! Finally I got offered a job in leaflet distribution, and as my text book situation was becoming desperate, I accepted immediately.

My first distribution job was standing in a street in the centre of Brighton offering leaflets to passers-by to come and listen to some scientologists or something and buy a book while they were at it. I have to admit that it wasn't the most easy thing to promote to people that just want to raid Topshop on a Saturday morning, but after a few acceptances of my pleads to take the leaflets from my aching hands, I began to tell which people I should target and which were going to blatantly throw me a blank look. Realising that the sooner I offloaded my payload I could have some free time, I understood the fundamental rule of marketing - target the audience and get the job done.

The next rule of marketing I learned was that the faster I could distribute the leaflets, the more I could distribute, and therefore earn more. Obviously, this is great for the company or business I was distributing for, as the more efficient I was at getting the leaflets delivered to the right people, the more money they were able to get as a return on their investment. The job really suited me, I loved being out in the open, having my own agenda and being in control of my income. Needless to say, as my life as a student went on, I became more interested in being my own boss and making a name for myself as a distributor, and by the time I finished my course, I was ready to take a leap into the world of running my own distribution organisation.

I went from handing out leaflets on street corners to starting my own leaflet distribution company. Because I had understood the fundamental process of targeting the right market to make a profit, I was able to apply that knowledge on a larger scale. The work I was taking on was more than I could do on my own, but my services were so much in demand that I had to take the bull by the horns and expand. By taking on other distributors, I was able to concentrate on coordinating deliveries and distribution deals. At the end of the day, leaflet distribution as a marketing tool works more effectively than any other form of advertising as long as the distributor has the ways and means of targeting an audience, and while that is the case, those who want to get ahead in marketing need to get their head around leaflet distribution.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY- Mailbox Nationwide GUARANTEE that they will take your money and will deliver between zero and 80% of your leaflets. In my case - they delivered less than 2% - READ THEIR CONditions of service!!! “6.2 The Company is unable to guarantee that all Promotional Material will be delivered or that all addresses within the Location will receive Promotional Material. We confirm that the maximum achievable penetration level will be eighty percent. The Client expressly accepts this limitation of the Services offered on the basis of the extremely competitive nature of the Price and the limited warranty given in this Condition.”

I had a wonderful experience with Mailbox Nationwide and found them to be fast, reliable and efficient with our leaflet programme. I would recommend them. I used them to help get information out to everyone on our surgeries books. As a result we had a dramatic increase in the number of people that came in for a free eye test.

Leaflet delivery in London shouldn't be a problem for anyone due to the density of housing. Nationwide is a different matter. Maybe they are capable of a reasonable service - and can arrange delivery of up to 80% of your materials in London - but imagine what your increase in business would have been if you employed a company who actually delivered ALL of your materials!

I also had a great response from the leaflets Mailbox did for me. The drop created six new enquiries, which lead to more work. I would recommend them and use them again.
