Amy Winehouse Tickets - Divorce for Amy Winehouse?
Although the honeymoon phase for British songstress Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil was undoubtedly short (the singer's husband was incarcerated not long after their nuptials,) it appears to be officially over. Fielder-Civil's attorney Henri Brandman has reportedly been told to commence divorce proceedings on the grounds of Winehouse's alleged infidelity. Winehouse may be singing a very different tune in divorce court no less than she has throughout the past year, in which she often urged fans to call for the release of "my Blake" during performances. Despite possible impending divorce proceedings, check online for Amy Winehouse tickets to see the talented, albeit troubled, singer live.
Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil married in May 2007 but he was arrested just six months later for beating up a bar manager (and trying to bribe him to keep quiet after the fact.) In July Fielder-Civil was sentenced to 27 months in jail and although he was released into a drug rehab facility in November, he is now behind bars again after violating his bail conditions. Last month Winehouse's hubby told the British newspaper News of the World that he was seeking divorce in order to help his wife with her perpetual drug problems: "I have to let her go to save her life. I am not abandoning her. I am doing this out of love." Fielder-Civil went on to say that blames himself for introducing Winehouse to various drugs and said that he,"always offered to do a pre-nuptial agreement" and is not interested in the singer's fortune, which is estimated at 10 million pounds ($15 million) by the Sunday Times.
Despite what constant tabloid fodder might suggest, Amy Winehouse wasn't always under public scrutiny. The singer was raised in the Southgate neighborhood of northern London by a taxi driver father and pharmacist mother on a healthy dose of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Dinah Washington. Winehouse's rebellious streak first appeared when she began listening to American R&B artists like Salt'N'Peppa and TLC, and she was expelled from London's Sylvia Young Theatre School in her teens. Former classmate and pop star Tyler James gave his A&R Winehouse's demo and Island Records instantly signed the fledgling soul singer, releasing her aptly titled debut album, Frank, in 2003. The 20-year-old was nominated for the 2004 Mercury Music Prize and two Brit Awards for her record, which uniquely fused jazz, soul, hip-hop and pop.
Just as Amy Winehouse's star was rising, her personal problems found a home in the spotlight as well; the singer began showing up to performances noticeably intoxicated. Island Records suggested Winehouse enter a rehab program for alcohol abuse in 2006 but the singer refused, subsequently breaking free from her contract and penning the song that would become her biggest hit, "Rehab." Winehouse then released her sophomore album, Back to Black, to critical acclaim and was awarded the Best Female Artist Honor at the Brit Awards. The record, which contained smash single "Rehab," was released in the U.S. to similar praise and soon Winehouse (and her signature bouffant hairdo) was plastered on the cover of magazines like Rolling Stone and Spin.
Winehouse's drug and alcohol abuse wouldn't remain at bay for long, however, as the sassy soul singer was forced to cancel her North American tour and made headlines again when her husband was sent to jail. Amy Winehouse is reportedly working on the follow-up effort to 2006's Back to Black, and Universal label head Lucian George recently told the BBC that the singer's new material has not suffered from her personal problems. Here's to hoping the singer will make a comeback from her personal and substance abuse issues, and when she does, get your Amy Winehouse tickets quick!
