Eric Hutchinson Tickets - Gossip's Success Story
Thanks to the famous gossiper Perez Hilton, indie rocker Eric Hutchinson has a career. The Washington, DC native has seen a long road to fame. "I'm no overnight sensation," he says to LiveDaily online. "It's been a long road, [but] it's been getting really exciting lately." Originally signed to a major pop label, the artist moved into the indie bracket with his jazzy influenced sound as his most recent efforts appear on his own label, and with ravings via Perez Hilton's celebrity gossip blog, his latest album skyrocketed to the Top Ten most downloaded albums on iTunes. Now, Sounds like This is getting Hutchinson around the globe with OAR and G. Love & Special Sauce, as ticket vendors online are selling Eric Hutchinson tickets for the first time.
"I'm definitely grateful to Perez. We've become friends through that. It gave me a bump when I really needed it. My album was made independently and right after it came out he put it on his blog, so he had all these labels calling and it went up the iTunes charts. It was exciting. He really changed things. I spent so much time and energy making the album I didn't really have a plan after that. [Perez's blog posting about the album] just really kick started everything. It got people excited about the music," Hutchinson continued with LiveDaily online. Enough people were excited about the tunes via Hilton that Hutchinson earned a deal with Warner Bros., the first real recording contract since he had been dismissed by Madonna's Maverick Records (who initially signed him after his indie debut until a lawsuit shut down the company).
With the success of a major distribution, Hutchison's Sounds Like This was re-released with Warner Bros, allowing him to reach The Billboard 200, the Top Heatseekers (peaking at number one), and the Top Independent Albums chart. Nearly two years old, Sounds Like This won't be the only material he performs on stage with OAR and G. Love & Special Sauce; "I've written probably 60 songs since I made Sounds Like This. I'm very picky in particular about what I want to release," he continued with LiveDaily. Still, he thinks that he's ready to step back into the studio with his new label and begin fine tuning particular sets. "I feel like I want to go in and record when I feel like the album is already written. I don't want to be in the studio trying to come up with stuff at the last minute to fill up an album."
So OAR and G. Love & Special Sauce seem like the perfect fit, as Hutchinson's contemporary rock pop sound keys into each group's fan base and style. "I think they're the kind of bands, in some ways, I'm trying to mold myself after, on a business side. They're bands that just toured and toured and made fans the real way. They haven't necessarily relied on a radio hit. I feel like those are the fans that continue to support you over the years." And true to his form, Hutchinson will continue to perform for the rest of the year, with little mainstream hits (he has yet to tape a music video) but will see fans, thanks to the gossip and his sound, for many more stages.
