Kenny Chesney Tickets - Four ACM Nods for Kenny Chesney

The 44th Annual ACM Awards will be held April 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and Kenny Chesney is among the nominees. Chesney is nominated for four awards, including Entertainer of the Year, and if he wins in this category it will be his fifth consecutive triumph, placing him at a tie with Alabama for the most consecutive wins for Entertainer of the Year.

Also in the running for the all-important Entertainer title are Brad Paisley, George Strait, Keith Underwood and the lone female in the category, Carrie Underwood. Chesney's other nods are for Top Male Vocalist, competing against Toby Keith, Paisley, Strait and Urban and as an artist and producer for Vocal Event of the Year for "Down the Road," with Mac McAnnally. Although it may look as if Kenny Chesney has been the toast of Music City for some time, the contemporary country star actually secured his success gradually, with good old-fashioned hard work and an average-guy affability, instead of scoring immediate breakout success like many of his peers. The Knoxville, Tennessee native was raised in the small town of Luttrell, a nearby enclave known simply as the home of Chet Atkins. Although Chesney grew up on a healthy appetite of country and rock & roll music, he didn't think about music as a career until he was studying marketing at East Tennessee State University.

After receiving a guitar as a Christmas present, Chesney started practicing and was soon performing with the local bluegrass band as well as penning his own songs and playing for tips at any venue that would have him, most often a Mexican restaurant. Eventually Chesney's self-released demo managed to sell 1,000 copies and his fate as a country musician seemed sealed.

Upon graduation, Chesney moved to Nashville and was soon the resident performer at the rough-and-tumble honky-tonk joint the Turf, located in Music City's historic district. In 1992 Chesney signed a publishing deal with Acuff-Rose and then signed a recording contract with Capricorn, releasing his debut album, In My Wildest Dreams, in late 1993. Capricorn wasn't a country label, and actually closed their country division not long after Chesney's debut was released, resulting in a lack of promotion. Nonetheless, In My Wildest Dreams managed to sell 100,000 copies and a bidding war among major labels ensued, with RCA subsidiary BNA emerging victorious.

In 1995 All I Need to Know was released and yielded Chesney's first two top ten hits: "That's Why I'm Here" and "She's Got it All." Chesney's breakthrough happened four years later, after 1996's Me and You and 1997's I Will Stand, with Everywhere I Go. The album sold over two million copies and spawned two number one singles: "You Had Me from Hello" and "How Forever Feels."

Kenny Chesney's first greatest hits album arrived in 2000 and went on to become his second straight double-platinum release. No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem arrived in 2000 and was Chesney's biggest commercial success, with four top ten singles. After a 2003 holiday effort, Chesney returned with When the Sun Goes Down in 2004 and took home the Album of the Year honor at the Country Music Awards. Next up, Be As You Are garnered Chesney a win in the Entertainer of the Year category and subsequently Chesney became the subject of tabloid fodder when he engaged in a quickie (as in less than one year) marriage to Renee Zellweger (years before, Chesney penned his hit song "You Had Me from Hello" after seeing the actress in Jerry McGuire).

Chesney placed the focus back on music with 2006's Live: Live Those Songs Again, 2007's Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates and 2008's Lucky Old Sun. If you haven't seen Kenny Chesney perform live it is about time you did, but Kenny Chesney tickets will be going fast so get yours soon!
