Challenge Yourself to Change...Dare to Be All That You Can Be!
Are you caught up in a rut? Are you quietly disillusioned with the way your life seems to be going? Are you reneging on your dreams? Stop. Assess where you are, find out exactly where you want to be, and then challenge yourself on ways to get there. Don’t settle for less…dare to be all that you can be.
It is an indisputable fact that in the springtime of our life, we have dreams of taking the world by storm, of being hugely successful, of achieving all our goals, of being a force to be reckoned with, and we see absolutely no barriers to the attainment of those dreams.
Somewhere between the spring and summer of life, however, we become caught up in the ‘realities of life’, and in the ‘struggle for survival’. We gradually begin to lose our perspective, and with it our joy of challenges, and we begin to become lost in the mire of everyday living, abandoning our dreams as being too lofty to attain.
If you equate with this theory, I am presenting you with a ‘wake-up’ call. I am challenging you to remember the dreams of your youth and find a way to achieve them. It is not acceptable that you stay in a dead-end job that you literally hate, that you live at a level of bare existence.
It is time to own up to who you really are, and to you take your true place in the world. It is time that you design a life for you, a life that you will enjoy, and a life that will enable you to give back and so maintain one of the vital laws of the universe.
Easier said than done, you say? No, I say, in the words of my mentor Ellie Drake, it is in fact ‘easier done than said’. Ask yourself some pertinent questions, ones perhaps that surface in your mind ever so often and are brutally shot back down. What do you want? Is it financial freedom? Can it be less stress in your life? Would you like a better relationship with your family? Do you want to start your own business? Whatever your question, there is an answer. You just have to be diligent and search within, or without yourself for the solution. So what will you do?
To succeed in your plans, it is necessary that you combine these three essential ingredients. They will ensure that you arrive successfully at you destination, whatever you choose it to be. These three keys that you must carry with you at all times are the keys of Clarity, Commitment and Confidence.
Clarity is that keen ability to know what you want, why you want it, and how you intend to achieve it. It is the ability to be completely focused on your goal. Your focus will then create the actions necessary to be taken, and will make certain that they are consistent in manner. Clarity reinforces your vision, and enables you to stay on track until you have implemented all the strategies necessary to your success.
Once you have worked out the parameters of clarity, you must then follow up with a firm sense of commitment. Commitment is a pledge that you make to yourself each and every day to ‘make it happen’. It is a pledge that you will remain grounded to the values, principles and beliefs that you hold in regard to the results you seek. If you have a desire to be in your own business then it also is a commitment to the customers you serve, and the organization you represent.
To be committed to your results, you must first be committed to yourself, and this is reflected in the type of leader you become. It determines that you act with a sense of personal integrity and be willing to share the credit with others when due. A committed individual is one who always looks at areas which will afford him continual self-growth.
Understand that self-confidence comes and goes. Understand also that the greater your level of understanding of where you are going, what you desire to achieve, and the passion you enthuse in achieving it, your level of self-confidence will grow exponentially.
Be willing to rekindle the dreams you have ruthlessly submerged. Be prepared to stay on track, and accept all the challenges required to fulfil them. Dare to be different…dare to achieve your goals. If you do, you can be assured that you have found a way to live your very best life. It really is ‘easier done than said’.
