The Science of Getting Rich: 7 Principles from Chapter Fourteen
"The Impression of Increase"
One of the secrets to being successful in business is to give your customers more in use value than they give you in cash value. Others will want to do business with you when they know that you under promise and overdeliver with your products and services.
Below are seven principles to help you grow, as well as increase the value you offer your customers:
1. If you decide to change businesses, you still need to focus on the business you are currently engaged in.
If you have a job, you need to make the transition from your job to your business. In order to do that, you need to make sure you have laid the groundwork and your business is making money. Get in the habit of overdelivering, whether you are on the job or working your business. This is an important habit to develop because it leads to repeat customers and repeat sales.
Skills you learn on your job, like customer service, will help you in your business. You want to clearly demonstrate that you overdeliver on your products or services. This will keep your customers coming back.
2. Ultimately, everyone is seeking increase. Show others how they may increase.
Always underpromise and overdeliver. People don't like to buy products that have been overhyped and don't solve their problems. One of the ways we grow in life is to overcome our problems. You want to provide solutions to your customers problems that help them grow, solve their problems, and get the things they want out of life.
3. Convey the impression of advancement in everything you do.
When you help others get what they want, you will get what you want. Constantly growing and changing will help you develop better products and improve the ones you sell to your customers. The side benefit is that you will grow and achieve your goals.
4. Don't boast or brag about your success.
People don't like braggarts, and the problem with braggarts is that they often do it to make themselves feel better. If you are following the Science of Getting Rich, and you are using it to change your life, you don't need to brag. Besides, bragging is an unnecesary distraction and waste of time. Don't indulge in it.
5. If you show others the benefits of doing business with you, you won't have a lack of customers.
I've mentioned this before, but "underpromise and overdeliver." Show others how you will solve their problems with your products or services. Show them how you can really help them achieve for themselves. This will keep them coming back, and if you continue to overdeliver on your products, they'll be repeat customers.
6. Never lose sight of your vision of what you want, and hold onto your faith and purpose to get what you want.
Focus is a crucial element of your success. It's easy to become distracted with TV, internet, cell phones, and all of the modern conveniences we have. Don't lose sight of your goals. Spend your spare time and extra time thinking about what you want and how to get it.
7. Remember the Golden rule of the late Toledo Jones: "What I want for myself, I want for everybody."
What this means is that if you are really committed to going from the competitive to the creative plane, you want others to be a success. You want them to have the benefits the Science of Getting Rich offers, and you want them to succeed using these principles the way you have.
