Today! On This Day, You and I Will Make History

"Today! On this day..." when combined with a powerful image will have a far more profound and noticeable affect on conquering your goals than any affirmation. Let me show you what I mean.

There's a movie "300" about how 300 Spartans fought valiantly against a Persian army of immense size. The Spartans were trained since childhood to never retreat, never look back, never give up...always push forward. Hmm, now don't you think that's a pretty powerful way of looking at your goals as well?

I truly believe we were born with this kind of power within us. It comes from the belief in your self-image. The more positive your self-image and the stronger your belief in that image, the more powerful and successful you will be at conquering goals.

Try this.

Imagine you have a whole army of Spartans inside of you. Imagine for any challenge you have it's like going up against just one Immortal (one of the elite fighters of the Persian army). So here you are with a whole army going against just one fighter (one challenge).

Your only weakness, that causes you to falter with a challenge, comes from the way you believe. If you start having self-doubts, what are you doing? You're retreating, looking back. With this way of believing in yourself you are vulnerable to never conquering your goal. We don't want that to happen.

So what if you start believing you have a whole army of Spartans within you that are all chanting "Never retreat! Never look back! Always push forward!" You have just made yourself the conqueror of any challenge that you face.

Now here's where the real exhilarating feeling of power comes in. With this image of the Spartans chanting inside of you, say out loud, "Today! On this day, I will make history! For on this day, I will...(now fill in the one thing you will do to push you forward to completing your goal)."

Here's a personal example to help you get a stronger picture:

Sometimes I don't feel like writing. Yet this is where my bread and butter comes from. I like to stand up and breathe deep while imagining a huge army of Spartans marching out of my inner core into my fully focused mind. One of my favorite views is to pan back and see this huge army of highly trained "goal conquerers" chanting and advancing on this one lonely challenge...to get ON my butt and start writing.

Now, while standing in front of my computer and making this image stronger in my mind, with a dramatic passionate feeling I say, "Today! On this day, I will make history! For on this day, I will start to write. I will not bother with spelling, punctuation or style. I will "push forward" on to the paper ANY idea that comes into my head. For on this day, I will make it so!"

One important key here I hope you noticed is to say this with feeling. If you do this right, you may give your self chicken skin.

Remember, making a strong picture helps arouse dramatic passion. See yourself raising your hand with a sword, holding a shield with the other arm. See yourself through the eyes of hundreds, thousands, millions of Spartans glaring down on that one lonely little goal in front of you and saying...

Today! On this day, you will make history! For on this day you will...go out and become a conqueror of your goals.
