Handling Stress in Adolescents is No Problem
Stress is the reaction of the body and the mind towards assorted changes in the physical environment of a human being undergoes changes throughout his life, adolescence is one period that witnesses almost all of the changes. During puberty, an individual goes through many sorts of changes including physical, emotional, social and academic. is the period that is accompanied by maximum stress levels.
Several causes are responsible to trigger stress during teenage. Some of these factors include demanding school schedules, changes in the body, the constant fear of being bullied amidst several others. Expecting too much from one self and taking the right career decision can also be an important cause of stress in teenagers. Learning disabilities, financial problems in the family, discord between parents are some other less common causes of stress amidst teenagers.
Teenagers need to handle stress effectively since it can lead to a variety of issues. The common problems include health issues, anxiety, depression, nervousness, problem in concentrating and problems in sleeping and eating. In any of these conditions, the teenager may require professional help. It could also cause social withdrawal and violent behavior. Many kids lose their power to cope with daily stress and life in general. Many even go on to commit suicide.
Thus, correct anxiety control is urgent during teenage. Time allocation is an example of the best paths to manage teenage stress. Correct resource allocation would help you have sufficient time for varied activities like your studies, sports, pals or other house hold chores.
Dividing your overall jobs into smaller jobs that can be easily finished is another way to combat stress. When organizing your jobs, only focus on activities that you have control over. Contemplating on things that are outside your control will only drain your energy and make you stressed.
Eating a healthy diet coupled with exercise can also help deal with stress. You should also reduce your caffeine intake. Alcohol and drugs attribute to stress so make sure you stay away from them.
Many teenagers feel stressed in certain social situations. Think over and practice feared situations, such as practicing public speaking or asking someone out on a date. Express your emotions. you can do this through writing, music, talking with friends, or with someone you trust such as a teacher or a councilor.
Do not indulge in negative thoughts- replace the negative self-talk about yourself by positive or neutral thoughts. “My life has become worse forever” can be replaced by “I am in the dumps right now, but things are not going to be the same forever if I seek help”.
Accepting yourself the way you are is an example of the key rules to control stress in puberty. Most teenagers suffer from an inferiority complicated and become the victims of stress. Getting over this complicated and self acceptance will help you deal with stress.
If the routine stress management methods do not prove to be of much help, you can also look for the services of a health care provider. Be yourself and feel assured about what you are and you will be ready to deal with stress effectively.
