A Few Dilemmas on Pet Reproduction

Persons that breed dogs for competitive shows can incur pet reproduction dilemmas if the pet mates with a dog that is out of its class on the pet breeders association credentials. One sexual encounter can ruin a pedigreed animal's bloodline and make breeding future winner's an impossibility that many breeders are unable to cope with. Some pet breeds are rare and unscheduled mating could lead to the breed becoming extinct if it occurs several times a year.

Other pet reproduction dilemmas will occur if strays are not spayed and neutered. Some cat populations in local neighborhoods are making life hell for many Americans because the animals live under manufactured home buildings and tear out air conditioning vents and cause other home repairs to be needed throughout the year. Stray cats can carry diseases throughout many neighborhoods and occupants never realize the problems that are occurring until it is too late to do anything about it.

People that live in rural areas of the countryside are certain to call animal control agents when they begin experiencing pet reproduction dilemmas. Animal control officials are equipped to remove animals from pipes, drains, and barns if needed. Pet overpopulation affects all members of society because animals can cross state lines and move into any community area at will and spread diseases to other animals that they encounter on the way.

People that make their living selling livestock and grains can not take the chance of losing what they have built over the years, just because cats and dogs have moved into their city. Pet reproduction dilemmas are then passed on to local authorities who control the pet population problem with many tools. Some stray pets will be eligible for adoption once they have been checked out by a veterinarian and screened by a staff who make decisions on which homes that the pet would be most suited to live in.

With these simple solutions to pet reproduction dilemmas, there is an enormous expense involved in treating and caring for each pet. Some cities are not equipped financially to handle the pet reproduction dilemmas on such a large scale, and they must alternate to using humane methods to alleviate the unhealthy situations that pet overpopulation creates. People who bring pets to the humane society assume that pets will be adopted out after all tests are done and the animals are spayed or neutered.

This is not the case in most cities because humane societies cannot accommodate so many animals under one roof. Those animals that are not selected for adoption during a specific period or those who are considered unsuitable for adoption due to health concerns are humanly euthanized at animal centers across the country. Those with health problems are often euthanized shortly after arrival, and those that do make the grade must forfeit freedom for a while because they must wait in a cage until someone comes by and see them and confirms that the animal will be adopted.

All of these pet reproduction dilemmas could be avoided if people spayed and neutered any strays that are seen around the neighborhood. Some government funding is available for spaying and neutering pets, and other financial help could be found through help resources in the local community. No pet should die needlessly when a birth could be prevented by spaying or neutering, but few take action to alleviate the problem of pets over breeding.
