3 Unique New York City Attractions That You Don't Want To Miss

New York is an amazing city. It's fast-paced and the buzz never stops. If you're a visitor to New York it can be overwhelming trying to work out what attractions to see. To make it easier to decide, there are three top attractions in New York that you just have to visit.

Straight To The Top Of The Rock New York City

The Top of the Rock New York City is an iconic New York attraction. Situated at the top of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, it's one view of New York that will have you marveling at the city's beauty.

Top of the Rock New York City belongs to a two-part complex known as the Rockefeller Center. There are fourteen original Art Deco buildings, built by Rockefeller Jr., the son of a wealthy philanthropist, in the 1930s. Many years later an additional four modern office buildings were built as an extension to the Rockefeller Center. The Top of the Rock New York City is located at the top of the GE Building, one of the original 1930s towers.

The observation deck of the Top of the Rock New York City was recently renovated in 2005. The 872-foot high observation deck spans the 67-70th floors. Across all the floors is plenty to see and do. There is a multimedia display that details the history of the Rockefeller Center, and of course, the 'rock' in the crown, the viewing platform.

The 20-foot viewing platform at the Top of the Rock New York City has arguably the best 360-degree view of New York City. You'll see magnificent views over Central Park, the Empire State Building, and right out to New York Harbor.

Tickets to the Top of the Rock New York City are around $20 for adults and $13 for children. Currently you can also purchase Sunrise and Sunset tickets that allow you to visit the center twice on one day at a discounted cost than two separate tickets.

NYC Duck Tours

The two other unique attractions in New York City are definitely not conventional. While they may be alternative, they're guaranteed to keep you entertained!

The first top attraction brings you down to earth and takes you out to 'sea' the attractions of New York City. Climb on board NYC Duck Tours for the best two for one deal in New York. NYC Duck Tours are sightseeing tours that are operated from a specially designed amphibious vehicle. The vehicle is able to drive on land and then transform itself to into a sailing boat.

The NYC Duck tours normally start on dry land at Times Square. It will then take you around the city sights of New York before heading toward the Hudson River. As the Duck makes its way into the water, multimedia technology transforms the NYC Duck Tours vehicle into a transatlantic sea voyage (complete with all the sights and sounds, and a fully costumed captain as the tour guide). On the water you'll get a different perspective of the Manhattan Skyline than the view from the Top of the Rock New York City.

A Very Stiff Museum

The last of the more alternative top attractions in New York will involve a bit of celebrity hunting. The New York Wax Museum, Madame Tussauds, is a truly unique museum experience. At Madame Tussauds New York Wax Museum you'll get up close and personal with some of the world's biggest stars.

Drool over Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, take a ride over Metropolis with Superman, party with J.Lo and George Clooney at an opening night party, and hit the dance floor with Beyonce.

What's the catch? Well, if you look really closely you'll find that all the celebrities have a stiff upper lip. The celebrities at Madame Tussauds New York Wax Museum are life-size, and very lifelike models made out of wax. Look on the bright side, it'll mean that you can stare and drool as long as you want.
