It is built in place on a level surface, which you'll have to organize, and once built is in place for as long as you want it there. Often you can build it yourself if you're a little handy, but make sure you check if you build it yourself that the warranty isn't affected by doing this, otherwise get it built professionally for you.

However overall an above ground swimming pool is a fine compromise when you're looking at buying a pool. It's way cheaper than an in ground and is easier and faster to install. And you can take it away or exchange it for another one if you wish, say when the family gets bigger and you think you need some more swimming space. You can't do that with an in ground pool.
