Modern History Of Holiday Lights

Christmas tree lighters have spent endless hours every Christmas stringing lights on the Christmas tree only to undo their creation after the Christmas holiday season ended. All of the prayers of the Christmas tree lighters was answered when the pre-lit artificial Christmas trees was introduced in the late 1900’s. Technical advances in the manufacturing process of the artificial trees has created easy to assemble, realistic looking, beautiful pre-lit Christmas trees, with Christmas lights already strung on the tree. Today the Christmas tree light stringers do have a Merry Christmas.

A New Century Brought New Christmas Light Technology.

At the turn of the century the outdoor icicle lights started to decorate the rooflines of residential homes and quickly became the most popular form of outdoor lighting. Icicle lights are easy to put up and display a wonderful holiday light show for the holiday season. Along with the other verities of colorful lights the outdoor light shows are more festive and can be quite spectacular.

LED Lights are the Holiday Light of the Future.

The newest light on the Christmas scene is the LED (light-emitting diode) light. The cost of the light is more but the energy savings makes the LED lights the most economical light to date. An LED light is actually a semiconductor device that emits a narrow-spectrum of light when electrically flows through it. The color of the emitted light depends on the composition and condition of the semi conducting material used and the wavelength of the light emitted produces its color. Producing a true white light was the most difficult technical problem to overcome in there production. The first so called clear LED lights had a distinctive blue Hugh to them. Through technical advances in the past few years a true clear light is now available. Clear lights have been the most popular bulb color for many years. LED lights constantly illuminate when a current passes through them, but flashing LED bulbs are also available. Flashing LED bulbs resemble standard LED bulbs but they contain a small micro chip inside that causes the bulb to change.

How Christmas Lights Work.

Most of the Holiday Lights today use the parallel Christmas light wiring system. Parallel Christmas wiring provides more than one path of electricity for each light bulb to follow. After the current leaves the light bulb it follows two or more paths before returning to the electrical source. The parallel lights have two wires and each light bulb has its own positive and negative wire connection so if one light bulb burns out the rest of the lights remain lighted. To reduce the risk of overheating your lights, replace any dim or burned out light bulbs promptly using the same wattage replacement bulbs. The voltage of the lights does not change when another set of lights are added. What does change when adding additional sets of holiday lights is the amount of current that passes through the light bulbs. To much current flowing through the light bulbs will cause excess heat and blow out the bulbs. Most Holiday Lights today have fuses to limit the amount of current that will pass through the lights.

LED Lights Have Revolutionized the Candle.

Today new and safer ways to decorate are being developed. One of the newest is the flameless LED battery candle. The new battery operated candles will give any home a safe candle like feeling. These LED candles can also be used safely where there are no electrical outlets. The new flameless candles will never melt away, burn down and never need replacing. Just replace the batteries. You can enjoy candles for years without ever having to replace them. You can be safe and have peace of mind when using the new flameless candles. The flameless candle is perfect for party tables, wedding tables, and group ceremonies. You can also use the taper candle sticks for holiday church services, caroling, school activities, festivals, in holiday arrangements or for countless other candle uses.
