Remember those high-school years, prom dates, raging teen hormones and, oh yes; those dreadful braces? Many of us have gone through the metal mouth phase for 3 years of our teen lives, but would you have ever thought braces would become a fetish? Although the popularity of the metal has already been embraced by teen aficionados, a new kind of fetish has risen, giving braces a whole new look.

For years now people have been putting hardware on their faces; nose rings, tongue studs, and piercing of all kinds, but they have ignored the true shining beauty of the silver smile, faces with braces! Say Ahhh!, a small group of Montreal entrepreneurs have been running the very unusual fetish website www.beautyandbraces.com which is beginning to bring some attention online and in the fetish community. The site features pretty models wearing a variety of braces… from traditional metal mouths to rubber bands and full on head gear. “We try to stay away from the popular teen niche as much as possible when it comes to the site’s focus,” said one of the site owners. “The site is about the beauty of the mouth, the teeth and the braces they wear. We try to avoid the clichés of “innocence” by giving the site design a more mature look and feel. And that is also why you will find that most of the girls on B&B are 21 – 28 years of age on average… a lot older than the 18 – 20 age groups we tend to see with “teen” sites.”

B&B follows in similar footsteps as other unique websites such as suicidegirls.com or wasteland.com, and is quickly setting the grounds for a new and unique niche. A dedicated feature on the site is scheduled to be published in the UK-based fetish and alternative magazine Bizarre.

The initial concept of www.beautyandbraces.com comes from the creative mind of fetish photographer Michael Andrews, who has already made a reputation for himself with his dark erotica and unusual fetishes. Being an amateur of fetish himself and unsatisfied with the bland content that dominated the web at the time, Michael set out to produce quality fetish content, geared towards a micro-niche clientele. Being involved in the fetish community made it much easier for Michael to discover new and uncommon fetishes and help bring them to others through his art. Considered by many to be unorthodox in his creative process and artistic views, Michael Andrews has always tried to express himself through his work. “I never shoot unless all the elements are right”, claims Michael. “To achieve what I’m trying to express, I need the relationship with the model to be solid, location to be unique, and the moment to be right. It’s a long process, which sometimes takes me several shoots to achieve.”

Michael remembers how the braces came into his life and into his art; “a few years ago there was this hot girl where I worked. I never really had the opportunity to chat with her until the day I overheard that she was going to get braces soon. I bounced out of my chair and wanted to know all the details. From then on we became good friends and I finally convinced her to come by the studio for a test shoot. From that day on braces became my own little fetish that I wanted to share with the world, and the rest as they say is history!” After that initial experience Michael met Elsa Bang, a hardcore model at the time and brace enthusiast. He then discovered he wasn’t alone and became much more involved in scouting out girls with braces to pursue this fetish even more. Before you know it Michael had shot over 10 000 images, an impressive portfolio that would later become www.beautyandbraces.com .

The human conception of braces is one of shame. Those that wear them try to hide them, and those that don’t are happy to avoid them. But Michael and the team behind B&B are slowly trying to change that, one shoot at a time!
