Playing online games is increasing in popularity especially among the young generation because of the advantages that it offers. However, people should be careful with this due to its disadvantages.

One of the most obvious benefits that online games bring to the players is that it is much more convenient than traditional ones. After a working day at the office, people do not need to go any where to entertain or play some games because they can enjoy many interesting games via their computers connected to the internet.

Only by sitting at one place, perhaps at home or in the garden, they still can play various kinds of online games with just a few clicks. Everything is done on the computer which makes online games easier than traditional ones that often require you to create a room to organize the games.

When playing online games, you do not need to care about the set up and clean up needed to play. Moreover, the players can play alone or with other online players depending on their options which is much more convenient than playing traditional games sometimes.

Not all of the traditional games can be played by a single person and many of them require as much people involved as possible. In addition to this, playing games online may be less costly than other games because online players can enjoy some games free of charge.

Many corporations market their newly launched games to the customers by offering some versions for free for one to three months, which helps the players enjoy these games without worrying about their internet bills.

However, online games can have bad effects on people's life especially teenagers. Online game addiction has become popular in society which seriously influences children both physically and mentally.

Teens can spend most of their time sitting by the computer or in the internet cafe, being hooked up in playing from early morning until midnight without eating anything.

This leads to the lack of physical activities among children which makes them less active and communicative. They ignore everything around them, talking with no one, and have no interaction with the outside world. They even tell lies to their parents or play truant to have more time in the internet shops, which becomes a bad habit that needs to be prevented.

Also, playing online games may be very dangerous and risky in the way that it can be a gateway platform to gambling problems. Not only children but also adults might be exposed to the risk of gambling involvement if they do not know how to control themselves.

One of the most obvious consequences of playing and gambling is violence or crime which is not only harmful for individuals and families but for the society as well. Many disasters happening in the family stem from gambling online that abet the players in attacking their family members, stealing assets or committing other serious crimes.

In conclusion, online games can alter the way people spend their leisurely time positively or negatively depending on whether the players have enough self control or not. Being fully aware of the benefits and drawbacks of online games, the players can maximize their advantages and avoid the addiction.
