The Early Years

Born in 1968 in Knoxville, Chesney was born to a hair stylist and an elementary teacher. He tried his hand at guitar at the early age of five, but refused to keep playing because he claimed it hurt his fingers. Quite the contrast to his success now.

He was also on the football team, where he played as a receiver. He graduated from Gibbs High School and went on the study at East Tennessee State University. While in college, he became involved in a Bluegrass Program. He used money from playing in this group to earn money for a new guitar. The list of awards held by Kenny Chesney include 1997 ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year, to the 2008 Entertainer of the Year, with multiple awards in between for best video, single of the year, Best Male County artist and more.
