The Little Mermaid Tickets - Making a Splash on Broadway

It's time for a new Ursula to be a part of the Broadway cast's world - Tony Award winner Faith Prince. Prince recently finished her stint with Broadway's A Catered Affair, and is now returning to The Great White Way in April for Disney's The Little Mermaid. The Broadway and television actress reprises the role in place of Heidi Blickenstaff April 7th at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Schumacher, the producer and President of Disney Theatrical Productions, said in a statement, "We are beyond thrilled that Faith Prince is joining to cast of The Little Mermaid. She is that glorious creature - a leading lady in the great Broadway tradition and we think a perfect match for the role of Ursula, one of Disney's most uproarious villains. We can't wait to see what happens when she dons Ursula's trademark wig and tentacles." No doubt it won't just be the staff at the Broadway production whom are excited to see this award winning actress perform the role on stage, so addThe Little Mermaid tickets.

The stage is set with blue screens and light frames as the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre becomes an underworld adventure that is fun for the whole family. With Prince in the role first created by Sherie Rene Scott, the stage adaptation of Disney's animated classic (written and directed by John Musker and Ron Clements) and the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale will continue to see success on stage. According to production notes, the story takes place "in a magical kingdom under the sea, a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father - the kind of the sea - escape the clutches of an evil sea witch and convince a prince that she's the girl with the perfect voice."

With the addition of Prince, who recently earned a Tony for her performance as Adelaide in the Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls, she has also starred in the Off-Broadway production of A Man of No Importance in the Lincoln Center, as well as Noise Off, Bells Are Ringing, James Joyce's The Dead, Little Me, The King and I, What's Wrong with This Pictures?, Nick & Nora, and Jerome Robbins' Broadway. She has appeared on the small and silver screen for films like Material Girls, Dave, Picture Perfect with appearances in Law & Order, Grey's Anatomy, Monk and House.

The Little Mermaid features songs penned by Disney composer Alan Menken and Howard Ashman for the film along with ten new singles, with help from Glenn Slater for the play version. Dough Wright wrote the book with a creative team including Francesca Zambello (direction), Stephen Mear (choreography), George Tsypin, Tatiano Noginova, John Shivers, Natash Katz and more. The Lunt-Fontanne Theatre was built in 1910 by producer Charles B. Billingham and designed by architects Carr and Hastings. Its first production was The Old Town until the Great Depression forced the venue to become a movie house until 1957. During its renovation it was renamed, having previously gone under the moniker The Globe after Shakespeare's theatre in England, opening with The Visit. The theatre has been home to several award winning plays, including another Disney classic The Beauty and the Beast, which closed in 2007 after 13 years to make way for The Little Mermaid.
