Final Four Tickets - Who Will Make It and Who Will Win It All
For many casual and not-so-casual sports fans, March Madness is the highlight of their year. Filling out brackets and trying to find that golden 12-5 matchup that is sure to hit, these are the types of things that some most sports fans wait all year for. For some, it doesn't get any better than Final Four tickets. Here is who I am predicting will make it to the Final Four and how the last three games will unfold.
Louisville: Louisville is the number one seed in the whole tournament despite never being the number one team in the nation during the regular season. This team has everything you need to make it to the Final Four, though. Rick Pitino is an extremely experienced coach and always has his team ready for the tournament. Earl Clark and Terrence Williams are two of the best players in the nation and could definitely take this team deep into March. I think they'll have a pretty easy road to the Final Four too, as I don't see them having to face anyone higher than a four seed in their region.
North Carolina: The Ty Lawson injury scares me a bit, but not enough to bounce them from my Final Four. This is the most talented team in the nation and most of the players have significant postseason experience. Roy Williams is one of the best coaches of all time and will have these kids ready, with or without Lawson. Just remember how at the beginning of the season people were asking whether this team was capable of winning every single game they played. They're still that talented and should be one of the last four teams standing.
Pittsburgh: Pitt looks to have a fairly easy road to the Elite Eight, but will need to beat a quality team to advance to the Final Four. I love the experience level of this team and DeJuan Blair is too much of a beast for most college players to handle. If it comes down to Duke in the Elite Eight, there won't be anyone to check the big man. Levance Fields and Sam Young know the tournament very well and will be looking to make it their first Final Four.
Memphis: Oh the benefits that come from feeling snubbed. Is there any way that John Calipari is not playing the "we get no respect" card this whole tournament? Memphis has a lot of experience and has looked really strong since moving freshman Tyreke Evans to the point. UConn is good, but they're definitely not unbeatable, and I think Memphis can do it in less than six overtimes.
Semis:
North Carolina over Pittsburgh: Carolina has enough quality bigs to give Blair problems and the Panthers' experience is negated by Carolina's here. Talent will prevail, as the Tar Heels make it to the championship game.
Louisville over Memphis: This should be a really good game but Louisville just has too much on offense for Memphis to shut down. It should be a very closely contested game the whole way.
Title Game:
North Carolina over Louisville: Talent, experience, conditioning and depth are four categories where UNC just has more in the tank than any other team. That's too much to ignore. (Final score 82-68)
