NBA Tickets - Lottery Mock 1.0
While we won't know the order of the 2009 NBA Draft until after the draft lottery in May, here's a venture at a mock draft using the order in which would be according to their records as of February 24th.
1. Sacramento Kings - Blake Griffin, PF, Oklahoma: Griffin is all but a lock to go number one regardless of the team selecting first. He'd give the Kings someone to pair with Kevin Martin and would kick start the rebuilding process in Sacramento.
2. Oklahoma City Thunder - Greg Monroe, PF, Georgetown: Monroe may have the most upside of anyone in this draft. He's extremely skilled for a player of his size and could be the best prospect in this draft. He may not be ready to dominate right away, but the potential is surely there. Oklahoma City needs to beef up their front line and Monroe would be a great addition to this young team.
3. Washington Wizards - James Harden, SG, Arizona State: Harden isn't flashy but he gets the job done on the court. He may be a bit undersized, but he's been too productive to pass on. The Wizards could use a guy who can contribute right away, and Harden seems to fit the bill.
4. Los Angeles Clippers - Ricky Rubio, PG, Spain: It doesn't look like the Baron Davis era isn't working out so great in Clipperland. Regardless, Rubio is too good to pass on here.
5. Memphis Grizzlies - Jordan Hill, PF, Arizona: The Grizzlies need help at the four, as they seem to be pretty set everywhere else. Hill is shooting up draft boards and could be a top five pick if he fits a need.
6. Minnesota Timberwolves - Hasheem Thabeet, C, UConn : The Timberwolves would love to pair Thabeet with Big Al Jefferson. Jefferson is a gifted offensive player, but isn't the greatest on the defensive end. With Thabeet clogging things up in the middle, Jefferson could focus more on offense and worry less about defending the paint.
7. Golden State Warriors - Jeff Teague, G, Wake Forest: The Warriors need a point guard in the worst way, and while Teague may not be a true point, he explosive leaping and long-range shooting would be a great fit in the Warriors' system.
8. Toronto Raptors - Al-Farouq Aminu, F, Wake Forest: The Raptors need a three and Aminu has the potential to develop into the prototypical NBA small forward.
9. Charlotte Bobcats - Willie Warren, G, Oklahoma: Warren is climbing draft boards quickly as of late and would be a huge boost to the Bobcats' lackluster offensive attack.
10. Indiana Pacers - B.J. Mullens, C, Ohio State: This would be a reach, but it's no secret that the Pacers are looking for young bigs.
11. New York Knicks - Brandon Jennings, PG, Italy: Jennings' stock has slid thanks to a lack of playing time in Europe, but he'll really sell NBA tickets with his nifty passes in Mike D'Antoni's offensive scheme.
12. New Jersey Nets - Earl Clark, F, Louisville: The Nets don't have a young three to develop and Clark is an extremely versatile point forward.
13. Chicago Bulls - Cole Aldrich, C, Kansas: The Bulls need interior scoring and Aldrich could provide just that and has upside.
14. Phoenix Suns - Stephen Curry, G, Davidson: If the team retains Alvin Gentry as head coach, Curry could be deadly in Gentry's version of seven seconds or less.
